Reese Witherspoon has been quite the jogger recently, so I can't understand why she doesn't just bite the bullet and update her gear. We all know it's not about the money and I think it would make her jogs a bit more comfortable. Plus, then we can all stop cringing each time she is spotted in those old-school yellow headphones.
Here are my updates for Reese's gear situation:
- Swap out the uncomfortable yellow earphones for a pair of ear buds made specifically for running. I personally like the Sennheiser MX75 Twist-To-Fit In-Ear Stereo Sport Headphones.
- While I love the aviator sunglasses, I am thinking a pair of running sunglasses may be a bit more comfortable since they are more lightweight and hug your head, which means less slipping down your nose. I love the Nike V. Cadence Sunglasses.
- I've done the iPod in the pants thing and it's a pain in the butt. Reese should get a sport band for her shuffle—I like the Shuffle Sweats Arm Band.
- Something about stark white sneakers with black pants that reminds me of my grandmother (and priests, but that's a whole different story). You don't have to only wear white sneaks these days. There are lots of great sneaks in different colors, such as Adidas Response Light Sneakers.

Isn't this supposed to be a fitness site? Recommending buying running shoes based on colour is so irresponsible I'm actually stunned you went there.
1I think she looks cute, and I *hate* ear buds with a passion. They are so uncomfortable for me. I've been wanting to trade mine in for headphones like hers. I agree that an arm band is a good idea, though. I'd like to get one of those.
2The only thing I agree with is the arm band. I have one for my sony mp3 player and it's so great to have it up and out of the way - as for the headphones, white shoes, sunglasses, etc. LET THE GIRL RUN!
3Awww don't mkae run! I have old school running stuff too! I really need to start investing in some good running items though if I am serious about this! My goal: next spring run a marathon!
4I actually like the fact that she's old school with her yellow headphones. I'd much rather see that than Paris Hilton hitting the gym with the latest LV bag ostensibly functioning as her gym bag. Bravo to Reese for being a real person!
5I hate earbuds too. I would much rather have headphones.
6I figure, whatever gets your out of the house, is good enough for me. Sure she could have the latest gadget every week, but why when your old stuff works fine?
This is the second Fitsugar post about Reese and her outdated running gear. I come here for useful health information and motivation to keep me exercising, not fashion critiques. Why are we tearing her apart for not being cute enough while she's working out?
7I hate ear buds with a passion. They hurt my ears. Who cares about what color sneakers someone is wearing while working out. Save that bull for the fashion section. The main thing is she is putting forth an effort.
8we should be applauding reese for getting out there and being healthy, no matter what her style is. maybe she has better things to spend her money on - if it's not broken, don't fix it. and i don't cringe when i see her headphones - just like i'm sure she wouldn't cringe if she saw my cheap headphones.
9There's probably another reason for why she's wearing white sneakers. Maybe they fit her most comfortably for running?
Headphones, I don't care. Sunglasses, well, if she doesn't mind them, then we shouldn't mind them.
The armband is a good idea, though.
10I think she has enough money to buy whatever she wants, so she probably likes what she has.
11I think these are silly suggestions! I personally hate earbuds, and it's quite possible that's her take on things. Also, arm bands while running annoy me too, I don't like the way the cord tends to swish around and I feel more confined than with my ipod being attached to my pants.
Give her a break!
12I am not digging this feature I have to say. I agree we should be more encouraging to those working out and not so focused on the outside.
While the gear makeover is a good idea, maybe the feature could merely focus on items and not people. For example, this post could have focused on switching from one pair of sunglasses to another without ever mentioning a specific person.
13Silly me, I thought it was more important that I get comfortable running shoes that fit than the ones that came in pretty colors. (The only brand of running shoes I like come in white with blue trim and...white with yellow trim.)
14Hehehe... I actually agree with you FitSugar. I think you should give her a make-over!
I like my Nike Armband.
15Oh jeez, I think I had that yellow Walkman back in the early 90s!
16Wow. I'm really surprised you went there. To buy running shoes based on color is irresponsible. And ear buds hurt my ear. I didn't realize it was uncool to wear and use something because it's better for your body or more comfortable. I guess I'll just stay uncool while I run my half marathon next week.
17I cannot believe this was actually posted. Her running shoes are the wrong COLOR? Her headphones aren't high-tech enough for you? My goodness...I thought this was a fitness site.
18i have to agree with most of the other posters.
I read FitSugar because its NOT the fashion section and usually has some substance.
This is definately the most shallow article I've read here.
But at the same time...how many of us haven't thought the same thing about someone we've seen at the gym? Or passed running on the streets?
We all have a tendency to judge so maybe we should cut FitSugar some slack! 1 iffy posting out of the hundreds every week isn't so bad.
