If you're anything like me, the only time your car gets washed is if you're at a gas station and notice there is a car wash available. However, you (and I) might want to think about getting out the old hose and buckets to wash the car by hand. Yup, I'm talkin' 'bout the car wash.
Not only is it a fun thing to do with the family, washing your car by hand burns about 17% more calories than using a drive through car wash. A 150 pound person can burn nearly 300 calories simply by washing his or her car by hand—plus you'll save a few bucks too! So take advantage of the last few nice days left of this year and work and work.

cant wash my own car.. too cold where i live!
1While this is a great idea. It wastes a ton of water and adds unnecessary toxins. The car wash in my area recyles their water and even though it cost money I would rather know that I am not wasting water or adding anything to the environment that could cause damage.
2I just go to those drive-thru washes! Hmmm I need to soon too because a bird pooped on my car!!! Even though it's freezing cold, my car still needs to look like a pimp-mobile
3I prefer washing my car myself. It's free and I always do a better job than the carwash attendants.
4I was going to say the same thing as cubadog. It's really wasteful when you wash your own car. Especially with so much of the country it bad drought or basically on fire (like where I live) I'm more inclined to save the water for more important things.
5I live in a dorm, so I can't wash my own car.
I haven't washed my car in like a year probably..haha. whatever.
6They don't let me do this at my apt. complex. Dratto!
7I live in Redmond, WA, where the drain near my house empties to a salmon stream. Can't wash the car there unless we want to poison the salmon! Luckily, our local car washes recycle their water.
8I'll pass...thanks for the tip though!
9the drought across the us has made water conservation a bit more important then car washing, but i will think about this next time we have more water to spare.
10During the spring/summer time, I always wash my car myself. However, when it's colder, I take it to the car wash.
11It's funny though - coz those green daily tips you suggested - thanks by the way! - said to avoid washing cars by hand and go to the gas stations because it'll save hundreds of gallons of water by doing so. It's these type of situations that I hate! Good for the health but not so much for the environment. In the end though, it's all about moderation. Wash your car one day by hand, and next time to the car washers. Thanks for the tip though
12I wash my car myself. It only gets done about once a year, sometime when I visit my parents in the summer. Normally I just wait for the rain...
13What with the drought, fires, and what not, this doesn't seem like the best fitness tip. Me, I just wait for the rain for a free carwash.
14If only there weren't things called water bans I would.
15muse, I do that too...I only wash my car when it rains, lol. I'll occasionally wash it if I'm in the mood, but in the winter (when it actually NEEDS to be washed), I usually use the car wash. TOO COLD otherwise!!
