I have been privy to many discussions questioning the true sportiness of golf. Whether or not you think the sport is physically taxing or not, there is no question that Tiger Woods is an athlete extraordinaire, and all athletes drink sports drinks right?
In March, Gatorade will introduce Gatorade Tiger in flavors that Woods selected himself: cherry blend, citrus blend, and grape. Although the specific monetary amount of the deal has not been disclosed, Golfweek reported that the licensing deal lasts five years and could bring Tiger $100 million. Wow! Now we know why we started seeing him drink from a Gatorade bottle on tour earlier this year.
While the huge amounts of cash that sports figures rake in always amaze me, I am puzzled by the golf and sports drink connection. I think of Gatorade as a drink people grab if they are sweating profusely or doing cardio for over 60 minutes. I know you can sweat walking around a golf course in the middle of summer, but I just don't think of golf and losing electrolytes. Do you? Tell me in the comments section below.

i golfed in high school and we were not allowed to use carts because there were so many of us in the tournys... we had to walk fast and keep up with the people in front of us. it was a little nerve racking and the day after the meet i would always be a little sore..in a good way... imagine speed walking for miles with a 40 pound golf bag on your shoulders.. it is hard work especilly on the hot days so i do beleive a sports drink is necessary...
1Sweet! Gatorade is the bomb!

3Yeah, everyone my husband and I golf with is usually carrying around a lot of gatorade. In the middle of scorching summers, or just have to carry your bag over 18 hilly holes. I could not imagine going without, especially since on some courses, water coolers are not plentiful. Now, nascar and gatorade (or powerade, I am not sure which is the drink) i am not really sure about
4You don't really NEED Gatorade/Powerade unless you are working out strenuously for 60+ minutes in the heat. I run long distances and I seriously only need electrolyte replacements when I run long races. Even then, I usually pick a banana and some water instead of Gatorade b/c I HATE the taste of it.
