I will wholeheartedly become a cheerleader when it comes to pomegranates. Not only does this fruit make a great decorative centerpiece on your table, it is full of tasty little seeds that can add a little zing to many dishes.
Although the flavor is considered tart, the pomegranate crosses the line of savory and sweet. Nutritionally speaking, the beautiful garnet colored juicy seeds inside are high in antioxidants that not only protect your blood lipids from the nasty act oxidation; they also help prevent plaque build up on arteries. Pomegranates are also a great source of potassium.
I feel the most timely pomegranate fact is they are in season now. The seeds make a great addition to any fall salad and are tasty scattered over roasted squash. The juice of the fruit makes a fine addition to any cocktail too. Just beware the beautiful juice can stain, not only your hands but your clothes too.
Confused about how to reach those powerful little seeds? Don't worry because my gal Yum can teach you. Just read How to Seed a Pomegranate.

1It is also very beautiful in a fruit bowl.
2I love them! I haven't had one and seeded it since I was young. Maybe it's time to start up again. Not sure if my son even has tasted them.
3I like the fruit, but I'd rather have something with the fruit in it, like a drink.
4They are yumyum! The only thing I hate is the mess that they make, and they stain REALLY bad too
5I like the seeds sprinkled on top of my oatmeal or used in place of jam on a bagel with light cream cheese. I got addicted to them last year, and I'm so glad they are back!!
6my dad has grown them for years. I love them but they are a huge pain in the butt to eat. Digging out the little seeds, and the horrible staining.
7I loooooooooove pomegranates! I will have to conquer my fears, and make a valiant attempt at seeding one this year.
8i put them on salad. i think i am going to have to get some next time i go to the store.
9Yay! I just bought my first one of the season, and all day I've been thinking about how excited I am to seed it and eat it when I get home!
10That's so funny, I tried one for the first tme a few days ago and loved it! Thaks for the ideas on how to use it, the salad and bagel idea sound yum. . .
11love em!!! I usually throw a handful of seeds with sprouted mung beans and diced cucumbers and a little salt, pepper, lemon juice and pinch of sugar and salt... Yum Yum!!! Good for lunch or snack!
12My dad used to let us pick out one piece of "exotic" produce each week at the store so we wouldn't beg for candy (smart man!). My sis and I sometimes would both get a nice big pomegranate and we LOVED them. I haven't eaten one in a while, but I should get one and eat it...they are delicious!
13i love them. been loving since chilhood, but i hate the stained hands and nails. and also it splashes a lot, so i have to wear special clothes... but i love the time spent with this wonderful fruit. i usually watch a movie or 2 episodes of shows, like desperate housewives to finish of one piece! it takes an hour
so funny, huh? i can eat an apple in 3 minutes, but it takes an hour to it pomegranate
and it's on sale now
that's way I buy it.
but i was actually wondering, what's the point of eat the fruit of actually you can only manage to suck out the juice but don;t get a lot of fiber... maybe juice is a better option? the same amount of nutrition.
14I like them, but I always seem to make a mess with them!
15I love pomegranates and pomegranate juice. I mix it with a little seltzer water and it's so good (and good for you)!
16cut in half, take a wooden spoon and whack the side of it a couple times- a tip from Nigella, works great!
17I had the most delicious drink at Ruby Tuesday's the other day. It was pomegranate lemonade and it was just scrumptious! Even if you don't like Ruby Tuesday's, its so worth going to just for that drink!
18It's really funny that these are a popular friut - being Italian we've been eating these things since I was a little girl! My favorite way of eating them is to pick out each individual seed and eat it
