Of course everyone eats this stuff sometimes. A brownie here, a Coke with lunch - nothing wrong with moderation. But if you're consuming these ingredients daily, it'll affect your mood and your health. Check the labels. These ingredients are in everything these days.
1. Hydrogenated oil (often labeled as trans fat) -
A process that turns free flowing oil into a lard-looking solid at room temperature. The food industry uses it to increase shelf life of products and maximize profits. Eating this stuff increases the bad cholesterol (LDL) in your body and is bad for your heart.
2. Enriched flour – All the grain’s nutrients are destroyed in the refining process. Companies add a little bit of the lost nutrients back and label it “enriched” so it seems nutritious.
3. High Fructose Corn Syrup – Your body processes this differently than good old-fashioned cane sugar. It contains more fructose than sugar and converts to fat more easily, which adds to weight gain.

4. Refined Sugar – When you put sugar into your system, you experiences a “sugar high,” that rapidly raises your blood sugar levels. So 2 hours later you “crash,” feeling tired and empty. Sugar that’s naturally combined with fat or fiber sources, like in fresh fruits, will absorb into your body much slower. Then you can avoid the roller coaster sugar ride.
5. Saturated Fats – These are found mostly in animal products and oils. Avoid the ones that are solid at room temperature like lard. They increase your cholesterol levels and clog your precious arteries, which causes cardiovascular disease. Plus they can also be used for furniture polish - how appetizing is that?

Is that whip cream looking stuff Hydrogenated oil? Kinda looks like the hot chocolate I had this morning.
1"It contains more fructose than sugar and converts to fat more easily, which adds to weight gain."
That is the most ridiculous thing I've ever read. As someone who is studying nutritional biochemistry this is totally a lie. EVERYTHING you eat can be turned into fat just as easily as everything else. (besides fat, which is just broken down and then stored).
Yeah, HFCS isnt that great for you (but is whatever youre eating that contains HFCS good for you? probably not) but depriving yourself of your favorite foods is only going to make you hate your life and then binge on oreos or doritos or whatever.
2So cams, does the body processes the fructose in high fructose corn syrup differently than it does cane or beet sugar, in turn altering the way metabolic-regulating hormones function.
In other words, is plain old sugar healthier to eat than HFCS?
I've also heard of studies that fructose does not stimulate the body to produce insulin & lepitin, which are involved in the bodys way to control appetite. So if I am thinking about this correctly eating more HFCS could result in more weight gain not necessariily because the body will produce more fat because of it, but because it won't trigger the body's response that it is full, so as a result you eat more...
3i am with kevin, at least this is what i have heard.
never have i ever heard anyone say that its a good idea to eat HFCS.
HFCS is just a byproduct of corn starch and the only real reason we have it now is because it is cheaper than other sugars (so our gov pushed it and corn hard core) and the real issue is the fructose, which when taken in high quantities (like most genetically modified products) can eventually destroy a living organism. HFCS, hence the name, is extremely high in fructose.
i have always tried to steer clear when ever i can, though its tough, of HFCS. I do agree that depriving yourself will lead to a binge, which is never good.
4the scary thing about high fructose corn syrup is that it's not JUST in the bad things we eat. it's in bread (check those labels!), cereal, juice, energy bars, yogurt, etc.! while you think you're eating healthy, getting your dose of calcium and eating whole grains, in reality you're still consuming syrup. whether or not it metabolizes differently or whatever, i've still heard research that suggests it suppresses appetite and leads to higher weight gain. i like to steer clear of anything that's not natural, anyways.
5HFCS is in everything these days. I think sugar tastes better and seems less processed. Don't know much about biochemistry.
