I strength train daily. Yes, and every girlfriend of mine will not weight train because they think they will bulk up. It is totally a myth. I noticed my body changed so much by doing this versus just cardio. Better posture, more strength (obviously), and a better body! I suggest getting advice and routines from a trainer, though. It is scary going in the gym and not know what you are doing. It is well worth it though!

If only I had a dollar for every time I've reassured women at the gym where I work that they will NOT bulk up, and explained how fantastic weight training is for looking fit and slim. I understand the worry, but I always suggest they just give it a try first! You can always stop if you don't like the results (but trust me, you will :) )

*hugs* Beth. Hope you can get rid of that cyst soon. Women don't bulk up like men because we lack huge amounts of testosterone. Learned that the other day on The Doctors.

I want to start strength training, and I do plan on it. But right now (and for the past 4 months... ugh...) I've got a ganglion cyst in my wrist that causes me pain, and I really don't want to aggravate it by lifting. :( I'm not sure what to do about that. I've tried convincing my friends that they should start strength training, but they unfortunately still believe that they'll get huge "gross" muscles if they do, no matter how often I tell them it's INCREDIBLY difficult for women to bulk up like men. *sigh* Stubborn. :P
