Personal Trainer: Male or Female?

When it comes to personal trainers, I have no preference for a female trainer over a male. As long as a trainer inspires me, keeps me moving, and helps me get stronger to attain my goals, I am fine with either.

So which do you prefer?

both trainers I've had have been male and I am a serious Bob lover. Jillians style just doesn't work for me, I dont like to be yelled at. That's when I go, you know what I'm PAYING you, F-Off. I like to work hard, but not feel worthless while doing it. My first trainer reminded me a lot of Bob. I miss Keogh. Now my trainer is from Russia and I love him. He kicks my butt.

I've never had one, but I think I would prefer a woman since I would expect she understands womens bodies better. Now for a man, probably a male personal trainer.

I've had both, and the thing that pretty much mattered more than anything else was individual personality, not gender.

It doesn't matter to me as long as who I'm working with knows their stuff.

I always thought I'd be more comfortable with a female trainer, but I've trained with both and have found the male trainers to be tougher (but in a good way - I am more sore the next day!). Could have just been the particular trainers I've had, but who knows??

My trainer is female, but if we have a scheduling conflict I get a male fill-in. Love them both.

I prefer male trainers. and my current trainer is awesome, he works me hard but he's very tender and really good at gently motivating me to do more (basically he's not a drill sargent). But I typically get along better with guys anyway so that may be why - it might just be part of my personality.

100% male. I need a butt kicking, and honestly, I need the sexual tension. It's not like I would ever want to date my trainer, but if I feel like I am trying to impress him with my strength and endurance, I work harder. Plus, when he tells me I'm looking great it definitely holds more weight for me.

I've had both, and gender really only matters if you want to date your trainer which I don't, but some people are into that. The important thing when interviewing a trainer is to ask about their philosophy about fitness and what their style is when it comes to training. Every trainer has their own style.

I would need a female since I feel more comfortable with girls, maybe cuz I'm gay. I only really relate to women in music, books, movies, anything! Also, I don't like that male trainers really think everyone wants to bulk up.

It doesn't matter to me, but I love Bob. So I would choose Bob over all other trainers... and after that, makes no difference to me.

I'm very self motivated. I can beat up myself for free, I dont need a trained for that. And motivation to work harder , I just look at myself naked! LOL

I selected "Doesn't matter," but I'm currently trying to decide if I want a male or female trainer... I really want to get a session or two to learn a little more, but I'm not sure if I care to choose... Decisions, decisions!!

I see a male trainer once a month. He's a totally ripped and nice to look at (though just look at, no fantasies here). He motivates me because he comes up with challenging workouts and because he's so hot it makes me work harder. I share my trainer time with a friend too, so it makes it more fun.

Id personally prefer a female, because they know the trouble spots for women, I would be fine with having a male trainer, because I haven't seen many women personal trainers anyways.

I have a female trainer currently and used a male (briefly) a while back.

He was the epitome of what I feared from a male trainer- kind of flirtatious, kind of gross! I don't think I'd ever use a male again, but that's primarily based on that single bad experience.

I had a male trainer and he was great! I think he pushed me more than a woman would have and I developed some serious muscles because he encouraged me to lift heavy weights.

I guess there would be pros and cons to both.

Woman: PROS-I would probably feel more comfortable around her since she was a woman. CONS-I would compare my body to hers the entire time.

Man: PROS-Flirting...definately. CONS-I would be wondering the whole time if he thougt I was fat.

While losing weight I'd work with a female. After I lost the weight and wanted to maintain and keep myself in great shape I'd work with a guy. I don't know why.

If it were between them I'd def. choose him cause she rubs me the wrong way.

with a male personal trainer, i'm more likely to want to impress him, whereas an extremely fit female trainer may make me a bit self-conscious and likely to not want to return.

I'm fine with either, just as long as the way he or she trains me is matched to my personality. I'd definitely want a bob type rather than a jillian type.

i dont mind but i think id prefer a woman cause id feel uncomfortable training in front of a man..and a woman's body is something that is closer to what i can inspire to achieve.

I've tried both and though I always felt more comfortable with a female trainer, I often felt TOO comfortable, like I was working out with a friend as opposed to a trainer. I push myself that much more with a male trainer and I don't know why - it's never because I've got a crush on them or anything like that, I just find that it's a bit more motivation!

I've never had a personal trainer. But, if I were to ever have one I would choose a male.

Because women are so competitive that I'm scared the female trainer would look at me funny or tease me. Making me feel uncomfortable.

A male trainer can not make fun of you because their a male and can not compare to a female.

    Eye-wink
