Kashi Frozen Pizza: Five Cheese Tomato

Kashi is one of my favorite companies. They have a reputation for making wholesome food that's healthy and full of taste. I love their crackers, cereals, waffles, chewy granola bars, their yummy frozen entrees, and hark, what is that I see? Frozen pizzas? I could not wait to give these a try.

The pizza crust is made from Kashi's signature blend of seven whole grains and sesame. The crust is fortified with flaxseed, a source of alpha-linoleic acid that's believed to reduce the risk of heart disease. OK, but how does it taste and how nutritious is it? To find out read more

Serving Size 1/3 of the pizza
(2 slices)
Calories 290
Total Fat 9g
Saturated Fat 3.5g
Cholesterol 20mg
Sodium 570mg
Carbs 37g
Fiber 4g
Sugar 4g
Protein 14g

I tried the Five Cheese Tomato pizza, but they also make two others: Mediterranean and Roasted Garlic Chicken. This pizza was actually really delicious and didn't taste at all like it was found in the freezer. It was really fresh, sweet and full of herbs. The sauce had a savory flavor with a little spicy kick to it, and there were actual chunks of real tomatoes sprinkled on top. The five cheeses were smooth and salty and blended beautifully. I was expecting a dry cardboard texture crust, but it was actually very chewy and filling.

I would definitely recommend trying these out. They cost about $6.00 and contain three servings, so it's a pretty great deal. With 14g of protein, 4g of fiber, and less than 300 calories, I'd feel good about having this for a quick meal any day of the week.

I've tried this pizza and love it. Since I totally love pizza and can never do without it, this is a better/healthier alternative.

I always cringe and walk by this brand. But this pizza sounds really good, so I guess I'll have to try it out.

Boo. Looks good, but too much fat for me. I know I should also consider calories, fiber, and protien too. I do, just not as much as the fat. Cutting fat works better on me than cutting calories alone. Otherwise I'd ratioinalize eating a cheeseburger and nothing else. Not too healthy. Maybe on my 'free' day I'll give this a try. Is this a full size pizza?

kiddy, it's not a fuul size, but it's slightly bigger than a personal sized pizza. If you think about it, 9 grams of fat isn't that bad for 1/3 of the pizza.
Sounds like Friday night pizza to me! Eye-wink

Hmmm...that's still only two slices. Not even two slices of a full size pizza. Crazy. I've been craving pizza for WEEKS now though, so this just might be making my cut.

This looks interesting to me, too.

The fat calories aren't too bad. I look at fat content, too. About 28% of the calories is from fat. I think the American Heart Association recommends 30% of calories to come from fat, so if a person eats low-fat the rest of the day, s/he can enjoy this pizza, and still be eating low-fat and healthy. Just my 2 cents.

If its only slightly bigger than a personal size, that's a whole lot of cals and fat for not that much food. I'd probably still be hungry and eat the whole thing!

I've had the Mediterranean which was pretty good...but the veggies on top were sparse and lacking so I doctored it up by adding my own fresh red and green peppers

haven't tried the pizzas, but I looovvee their frozen meals. well, as much as you can love a frozen meal. I always keep a few in the freezer just in case-not only are they one of the healthiest choices in the frozen section but by far they taste the best. my fav is a shrimp cilantro combo...

I cant get those here. I make my own pizza on Lebanese or Pita Bread to be a little healthier. If I only had two slices I'd be having with a nice, big salad.

I'm not a big pizza person, so I probably won't drop the $6 on this. If it's only a little bigger than a personal pizza and has 3 servings, it's not all that much healthier than a couple slices of thin crust veggie pizza from a pizzeria.

I tried the roasted veggie one. Delish. The kashi frozen meals are carrying a sticky coupon on the front for 1 dollar off the pizza.

I adore Kashi products too, and their pizza is just as incredible as everything else. I'm kinda torn between this pizza and Amy's organic margherita....but I love both brands' more wholesome replacements for foods that could otherwise sabotage a healthy diet. Thanks for bringing the Kashi pizzas to everyone's attention, Fit!! Smiling

I'm a fan of Kashi cereals, but living in NYC, you just can't beat the local pizza. Mmmm, Grimaldi's. Even your average pizza by the slice is a step above anything outside of New York.

Plus with its thin crust, lots of tomato sauce, and fresh mozzarella, NYC pizza is a healthier alternative to say... Dominos?

i am def trying this. i have been living on california's pizza kitchen margherita. Drool

i absolutely love the kashi sweet and sour chicken frozen dinner. it is scrumptious.

my only complaint is the price. Sad in comparison it is much more expensive then its competitors.
