I did it. I couldn't resist. The bags of candy were two for $5.00, so I thought I'd stock up for Halloween early, you know, for the trick-or-treaters. Bad mistake. I've already opened one bag just to have one taste after dinner, and now they're in the pantry calling my name after every meal. It is a slippery slope.
Seriously ladies, do yourselves a huge favor. I know there are tons of bags of candy at the grocery store and just about everywhere you look are signs of Halloween, but don't fall for it. The candy is for the kids who come a-knockin at your door, so if you buy it and eat it all, your body will feel crappy from downing all that sugar and you'll feel bad that you have none to give away.
So take my advice. Learn from my mistake. Wait to buy your candy until a few days before Halloween. We all know that holidays are the toughest time to stick to our healthy eating plan, so don't start earlier than you need to.

Aww Fit! It's a good tip, but don't worry; you're human! If I saw 2 bags of candy for $5 around Halloween, I would probably do the same!
1I always wait until about 2 days before Halloween before buying candy. Another strategy: buy candy that you don't like. That way, you won't be tempted to eat it all. For me, that means I buy those peanut butter kiss things that come wrapped in orange and black waxed paper.
2I'm glad I don't have much of a sweet tooth for generic candy brands, since it's everywhere, all the time. I'm more of an ice cream or specialty dark chocolate person.
3But.. but.. I want some mellowcremes!!
Seriously though, this is a good tip. I usually buy candy for myself in addition to trick-or-treaters, but I've decided to hold off this year. Last year my bag of mellowcreme pumpkins lasted into December, but I don't know if I have the willpower this year!
4My mom is waiting to buy her chocolate, because she knows she'll eat it all!! haha, I keep asking her about it too. It's a very good idea to wait!
5OH NO! haha, that happens to me all the time. i buy things for other people, or my mom used to buy cookies when i was young and she would have to hide it in the craziest spots. I do that now, if i have something i purchased impulsively i put it in the hardest to reach storage space and hopefully either i forget about it or eat less since it's so hard to get to.
6I am telling you I am going to buy some of those popcorn balls, cause I don't like those. Also on my list are those candy corns, can't stand those. I will buy some good candy too, but like, the sunday before halloween because I am going to be a good girl and not eat any (well maybe a few, only human) this year.
7This is why I wait until the morning of because if I buy it before, I will eat it myself.
8Yeah, I've been munching on those candy corn pumpkins lately. BUT they only come out once a year - and I only eat 1 or 2 a day - so I'm ok.
But this is a great TIP!
9I've been tempted! But I haven't yet!
10I bought some last week and have some sitting in my candy dish at work and I havn't ate any of it yet!!! WooHoo!!! I'm proud of myself and i'm NOT giving into the damn candy either!!!!
11Thank God the kids are grown and the bags of goodies won't be around here forever. Now, I just buy candy that my husb and I do not like
OK - so maybe the kids don't like it either, but that's a risk I'm willing to make.
12Try this instead of chocolate. It worked great last year and was a big hit with all the ghosts and ghobblins that came to our door! Buy (in bulk if you can - bless you Costco) bags of those mini-microwave popcorn bags. You can get them in different flavors and if you have some left over - or you buy them ahead of time and "sneak" a bag you won't feel guilty about it later!
Happy Halloween!!!!!!!!!!!!!
13Just buy what you dont like. If i had a bad of peanut butter cups or twix around it would be gone in a day. I bought a big bag of super sour candy (which i HATE but kids like). Its still sitting in my cupboard unopened and waiting.
14I started a new job last week so I bought 5 (!!) bags of candy and a cute pumpkin candy bowl for my desk to encourage people to come around and say hi. Problem is, I am the only one eating it. People come to say hi, but noone ever takes any treats. I have decided that I will use it as a challenge to see if I can learn to be around the stuff but only munch in moderation.
15The people that I sit around at work are all dieting, including myself, so this year we axed the candy and are buying healthy treats, 100 cal packs and pretzels. After hallowen, I let my son pick out 10 things and then bring the candy tp another area in the bldg.
