We all have different reasons for exercising and eating right, which means we all have different goals in mind as well.
I am curious what your personal goal is. It doesn't have to be big - maybe just to fit into a size six. Or maybe it's that you want to be able to chase after your toddler. Perhaps you've got a special event coming up that you want to look and feel good for. Or maybe it's as simple as going to the gym five days in one week. It could even be as broad as that you want to be healthy and live longer. A goal, no matter how big or small is still a goal.
No matter what your goal is, setting one is important. So speak up and share your personal goals in the comment section below - not only is it a good way to remind yourself of why you want to get healthy, but also it can help motivate others who are still searching for a reason.

My short term goal is to look good in a bikini for my trip to Hawaii in March. My long term goal is to continue being able to keep up with my 5 and 3 year old boys.
1I want to look better, be healthier, be able to keep up with my 3yr old and I want to get pregnant again.
2I just want to look the best haha!
3That's my goal!
To get abs too!
And they are really starting to show (yay!)
I turn 26 Nov 5th and I want to loose 10 lbs before then.
4Goals:
-be able to carry my bike up stairs and heavy groceries for long distances without using my back
-be able to do splits sideways. just because it looks cool
-strong abs that will let me do certain samba and middle easterm dance moves well without fatiguing
My goals have to be for concrete things, not just looks--those things are temporary and not motivating enough for me. I have things I need to be able to do, though!
5my goal is to run a 5k on November 24th. i tried the weight loss goal, and the size 4 goal, etc, but i get too complacent with my current status, and decide i don't actually have to do it. but with this, it's something i've never done before, and never thought i could do - so i'm out to prove myself wrong!
6To make exercising a habit in my daily rituals. It used to be!!!
7Nice abs!!
To get abs and make my hubby drool
8My goal is to live to be 120 years old! No joke. I think eating healthy and exercising are the keys to living a long healthy life and remaining independent as you age. My great grandfather will be 101 this January, and living long is simply in my genes. I just hope that both my mind AND body are functional when I'm old--that's the goal.
9I'd really love to lose 10 pounds, but since that hasn't happened so far, I'd settle for being able to run a 5K without stopping.
10my goal is to be healthy and to feel good about myself.
11I really want to run (and do well!) a 10k. I've got my eye on one in May, and it'll be only my second race ever!
12Most importantly, to get my body back to optimum health. I feel like I have been blessed with good health & I don't want to take advantage of it by staying overweight. I'm overweight & I have no one to blame but myself. (Don't you ever feel blessed when you see other people that have major health issues?)
Getting back to my healthy weight might help the whole "getting pregnant" process.
And, if anything, I would like to be back into a size 6. I'm tired of having fat rolls!
13I want to lose 25 lbs........but it's just not happening, I have food addictions. BAD ones. I eat and eat and eat and feel horrible and just sleep cuz I don't want to face it. Blah.
It's because I lost 70lbs, but gained 40 back when I got with my boyfriend two years ago...I need to lose 30 more lbs to get back where I was, but I'll settle for 25 lbs...It's just NOT coming OFF!!!!!!!!!!
14To be healthy and strong. I do enjoy some short term goals as well... one week could be to tone my tummy, one week to define my triceps, one month to get ready for a race (my first race - a 5K - is Saturday!). A big one I use pretty regularly is to stay in the clothes that I have and so far that one has worked!
15I want to make fitness a part of my routine too, CestLaVie, and losing 10-15lbs would be an added bonus. I tried to do the whole "get ready for a race" thing but found I had a really hard time committing myself to getting there. Too easy for me to make excuses, gotta work on that. Thankfully, my boyfriend is big into fitness and we help motivate each other!
16My goal is to be fitter this year then last. It is my goal at every birthday since I turned thirty 4 years ago and so far so good!
17to live to 100. and be healthy and happy at that age too!
18I want to feel invincible... like I can run 5 miles or bike 10 with no prob. I also have noticed that as I get older, my muscle is trying to be jiggly. (yes I am in denial and think that jiggle is muscle.. shhh!)
19My goal is to get up at 6:15 in the mornings to work out instead of letting myself sleep until 7:00.
20I always feel better getting up early, but fell out of the habit. Time to get my butt in gear, literally, the gear I used to be able to get into.
to reach and maintain my high school weight!
21I carry my excess weight around my stomach (I'm an apple not a pear.) The rest of me is pretty fit, but I know that carrying fat around my stomach leaves me open to all sorts of health problems in the future.
That, and I was a dancer and incredibly lean for more than 20 years of my life, so miss being strong! It's amazing what an extra 10 pounds does to my attitude about myself. I miss the way I looked, but also that I could accomplish a lot with my body.
22To ride my bike in a century (100 miles) by early spring. And then the AIDS Cycle ride from SF to LA in June.
23To get a rock hard body! I am a size 2 but feel flabby.
Also, I want my husband to start running with me!
24To get my body back! I've been slacking over the years and finally have a great motivation. Nov 30 my boyfriend and I are going to Thailand..so I've been hitting up the gym everyday and drinking lots of water...wish me luck everyone!!
25*I've lost 45 lbs. already and my goal is to lose at least 30 more. I want to have another baby.
26*I have asthma, so I want to be able to keep up with my 10 year old and my almost 3 year old.
*I want to live a long healthy life for my kids and myself.
*I want to look good for my husband!
I'm happy with my weight but I would like more toned up thighs. I want sexy abs too but I think I'll focus more on that after Halloween,Thanksgiving, and X-mas.Food is s big part of holidays and I'm not going to give up some of my favorite goodies to make my abs look fabulous...not worth it.
27to qualify for the boston marathon. i've run 4 marathons, but not boston.
28My goal has always been to have toned legs. My calves are not hard to tone up, but the upper-thigh for me is rough. I have always struggled with it. The rest of me is fine and I can workout and eat pretty much anything in moderation.
29Short term goal: set a new 5K PR in 1.5 weeks
30Long term goal: run the Chicago marathon in 2010 (I think the race date will be 10-10-10!)
Every day goal: not to drink so much! lol
To get my abs back and be healthier overall. My boyfriend is trying to get back in shape so that helps. If I stick to it, it's easier for him to!
31to ge rid of my little tummy and flabby bits under my arms!
32To lose the ten pounds i put on my first year of marriage. Then possibly lose nine more after that. Tone my abs, get a bubblier butt, toned arms and less cellulite behind my legs. I'v already lost 4 pounds. I really want to stick to it this time around. Good luck to me and to everyone else that wants to lead healthier lives!
33I'd like to be able to call myself a runner. This means that I want to be able to step out my door, start jogging and not feel fatigued for at least 30 minutes. I'd also like to be thin, but this will have to come through exercise. And eating healthy, which I already think I do a pretty good job of. I love fruits and veggies.
341. I'm looking for a new job and I'd like to fit into all of the clothes that are in my closet so that I can wear them.
2. More energy for my kid.
35i just want to be comfortable with myself. i never have been so im working on it now.
36My Goal is to exercise every day, but I hate weights, so I often skip them and do cardio instead. My goal is weights at least twice a week.
37My always goal is to stay fit and continue to be healthy. My short term goal is to make sure my body is in great condition to have a baby.
38Staying fit and healthy, and to be able to climb mount kilimanjaro in 2009
39My first goal is to lose the 25 pounds I gained over the course of college (2 pounds down!)
40After that, just getting active for 30min a day, 5 days a week to keep healthy and happy
To look as great as I did when I lost 30 pounds 5 years ago. I have only gained about 5 pounds or so, but I'm not as strong.
41my goal is to lose 30 lbs, originally it was before my birthday in Jan, but I changed my mind on that, it's a lot to ask jus tnot to GAIN weight during the holidays. Also I'd like to get engaged within the year. Hopefully that'll help motivate me to get in shape
42Also, I want to be happy. Less stressed.
i want to be consistent in my running and do not feel lazy to get up and go to the gym 5 days a week.
43My current goal is to run 5K in 30 minutes, I'd like to have really good stamina!
44I just want to look like Jessica Alba
45I have a few.
One is to continue running regularly until I am physically unable to. I love running, and I never want to give it up.
A smaller, more short-term goal is to keep myself in shape so that I have a healthy and active first pregnancy at some point in the near future.
I used to have size and weight goals, but those don't work for me.
46to run in the race for life next may and run all the way around
to reach 130lbs. January 1st I was 260.7lbs. Today I'm 168lbs. Getting there
Oh and to get a better paid job! lol
47can someone help me out...is 5K = 3.5 miles...Ok I feel dumb!
48I'd like to lose around 20 pounds and fit into a size 27 or maybe 26 one day. I'd like to be more lean, and have nice abs eventually.
Eating better is a process, and the route I have taken is not a quick fix one by any means so this will take some time.
I would also like to be able to run a few miles without stopping.
49- Run the Tulsa Route 66 Half Marathon in November
50- Run a marathon in a year
- Loose this baby weight!! (about 20 lbs)
- Have fun doing it!!
