I definitely believe in the positive power of a healthy mid-morning or afternoon snack. It is important to keep your blood sugar and metabolism fired up during long stretches between meals. Plus, a little something-something with protein and carbs in the mid afternoon can keep you from over indulging at cocktail hour or dinner. Going without a little pick me up between lunch and dinner is just impossible for me.
I am by no means saying that I reach for Doritos around 3:30. Nope. I have a healthy snack of an apple and some string cheese, or nonfat yogurt and a banana. Also if you need some snacking ideas check out these snack attack posts.
What about you...

I always have a snack ready to eat at the end of the day, so that way I can digest on my way to the gym and have a great workout with the extra energy boost. Normally I go for an apple or a bananna.
1My snack is usually a pink lady apple, or a banana and a kiwi, or a chopped gala apple with 1tbsp chopped walnuts.
2I definitely feel better when I have my day's meals and snacks planned out - and an afternoon snack helps me avoid those afternoon blahs where I'm too tired to get anything done!
3I have a snack in the morning between breakfast and lunch and one between lunch and dinner. I try to pack for the week so I have no excuses. It's usually cottage cheese or fruit.
4Yes ma'am! I bring one to work everyday.
5It's either string cheese and a few cashews or hummus with baby carrots.
6Usually, I eat my sndwich or soup at noon, my yogurt at 1, and then something else at 2. I need to eat spead out liek that in the afternoon because I hit the gym around 4:45...
7Today a few whole rye crackers & cheese, tomorrow probably hummus with a few pita chips and baby carrots.
8I just started packing my lunch and for class and work, so I've definitely been packing lots of fruits to eat as snacks.
9i plan my meals/snacks for the week on sunday when i do my grocery shopping. this week my snack has been braeburn apple with a little natural peanut butter.
10My sister and I work at the same place, so she cuts me fruit in the morning, every morning. I eat that...but I don't feel satisfied from it since everyone else around me is eating chips and candy. I have a Rice cake with some peanut and honey on it as well on my desk at work. Although I continue to overeat at dinner cuz I just have an overeating problem.
11usually an apple, but have recently found those curve bars...they are only 1 pt (Weight Watchers). I work out around 4:15 so I need something to hold me over until dinner or the fridge is emptied when I get home.
12I feel yeah ElectroPopTart my huge problem is overeating as well. I drink alot of water and snack regularly but tend to eat alot at dinner still....any suggestions anyone?
13A good snack around 4:00 with protein and carb (peanut butter and apple, carrots and hummous, Pria bar, etc.) keeps from pigging out at dinner time. I also find that I eat a more sensible lunch when I know I'll get a snack before dinner. I try to eat every 3 hours: 400 calorie meals with 100-150 calorie snacks in between. It's a super-easy way to keep your nutrition in check and it's been proven that the 3 hr interval boosts metabolism.
14I have a snack at 10am and usually 3pm.. I try to keep it healthy but sometimes I don't.
15Absolutely! I couldn't make it through the afternoon without one. Or the morning either. I always plan ahead and bring two pieces of fruit to work with me, one for a mid-morning snack and one for a mid-afternoon snack.
16I bring enough food every day (well, almost every day) for breakfast, lunch, and at least one snack, sometimes two.
I don't always eat all of it.
17i eat like 8 times a day, i'd die without a snack
18Just ate some baby carrots and yogurt, myself.
