I recently came across these thinkThin bars in the grocery store and was fuming about them. Think thin? I'm sorry. I didn't get the memo that being thin is the only important thing to think about in life. As if we aren't inundated enough from magazines, TV, and celebrities that thinness equals beauty. Now I have to get that message from my food?
These bars are low in carbs (only 2g) and have 20g of protein. I guess they're on the whole Atkins bandwagon, promoting foods that are low carb/high protein. Is this supposed to be a magical bar that you can eat and it will instantly melt away fat and make you thin. Oh please!
On the website, it says that thinkThin was developed as an "inner beauty food" designed for those who "think" about what they eat. Interesting philosophy. Maybe they should have been called thinkBeauty bars instead. What do you guys think about these bars?

i've never tried one and i think the name is kind of silly. you'd have to be pretty uneducated about nutrition to think that this bar, or any other bar for that matter, would have the ability to make you thin.
1They have a whole line of "Think" bars. I saw them at the grocery store and gave the nutritional labels a once over as I had had a ThinkOrganic bar before (it was good, but maybe not worth over 100 calories, IMHO). I don't know if I'm remembering incorrectly, but those ThinkThin bars are pretty high in calories! I couldn't find the nutritional label online, either, so...
All I know is that I won't be eating this product.
2yeah, what makes this different from any other protein bar? probably nothing. I've seen it before and was pretty skeptical about it when I saw it in the grocery store. Meh
3I am sick of all the things that promote being skinny instead of being healthy. Sadly,my sister will love these.
4I never really took it as offensive, I like these bars--I think they taste really good and I like to eat them in the morning when I don't have time for a protein shake. No, I don't do Atkins but I do find that I feel better when I eat a high protein diet.
5I have tried several different types of these bars, and have never been able to finish a whole bar of any of them. The first bite is good, but they get really gross by the end. So on top of the name being a little offensive, they are offensive in taste as well.
6I tried this bar for the first time yesterday!! i was thinkin to myself tht FITsugar shd do a review of the bar based on its ingredients...Surprising tht u wud post smthg on it here today......i didnt give much thought to the name.
this bar uses sugar alcohol (maltitol) instead of artificial sweeteners or regular sugar, which makes it a low GI food and thus the low carbs(2g) it is not high in calories either...it just has 240 cals and provides 20g of protein...it tasted alright...i tried the chunky peanut butter flavor...FIT if you cud shed some light on sugar alcohols, tht'd b great!!
7Reminds me of the "skinny" Starbucks article so over the name...
8Tried them before because the ratio of protein to carb is pretty good. But they should be renamed to "Think Gross" cause the flavor was well disgusting.
9i agree, they should change the name of this bar.. beautybars sounds much much much better
10Amen, sista
11I tired this bar about 2 months ago and couldnt even get through the whole thing. Its VERY gritty. I bought it because it was Breast Cancer month and the package was pink. It looked cute.
12I've tried the ThinkThin, ThinkOrganic, and ThinkGreen bars. Of those, the ThinkThin was the best (which is not to say that I liked it very much). The protein did help me stay full longer. I'd rather have a Greens Plus bar or any of the Clif products.
13240 calories! That's a lot for that little bar. For about the same number of calories, you could eat a bunch of lite tofu and get 32 grams of protein! We naturally eat by weight, not by calories. If you're looking for something sweet, try a Kashi GOLEAN Crunchy bar or something. Sure, they have carbs (which are necessary for energy and fat burning), and they have 8 grams of protein (150-180 calories total) -- not bad!
And sugar alcohols can have a laxative effect, so I would be wary if I ate those thinkThin bars on a regular basis.
14Oh, and some of those Kashi bars have up to 11 grams of protein! Perhaps fitsugar should make a post about them!
(And, no, I don't work for Kashi lol)
15So these are basically glorified candy bars with protein in them. I can only imagine how many young women are going to be buying these thinking they will magically become thin by eating them. And yeah, I'm sort of sick of the whole "thin above all else" mentality of the marketing people these days. I think I'd rather be slightly heavy and in good health rather than thin and loaded up with "laxative effect" sugar alcohols.
16I kind of like these bars. I do prefer more natural bars like larabars, but occasionally these are a good meal replacement when crunched for time. Sugar alcohols don't really affect me, but everyone is different. The name is just catchy. I don't find it necessary for anyone to take offense. Thin isn't bad. I also don't think they are trying to say only thin is healthy. Being healthy IS what counts. Obesity is an epidemic in the U.S., so I think the general message is important for everyone to take into consideration.
17These are actually really good! I love the peanut butter one! I have tried all of the Think products and think its a clever name. People should actually THINK more about what they put into their bodies. I keep them in my desk so when I have a choco craving at work i don't hit the vending machine.
I also don't have a problem with Starbucks Skinny lattes. Its just marketing and it works.
18I agree, thin is not offensive to me at all-- because that's what I am!! But I do think being healthy is the main priority. I don't notice many of those protein bars because they usually have peanut butter or are processed with peanut products and I have a peanut allergy. Are these bars processed with peanuts? Do they taste good?
19I have my own fittingly mad post which is off topic, but I need to vent.
Why do some people feel the need to sing at the gym? It is one of the most annoying habits. I am busting my butt, minding my business, when the girl on the machine next to me suddenly bursts out into song at random moments. It is distracting, and annoying. I am trying to focus on my own work outs. I don't need someone screaming a song I am not listening to in my ear. The worst part was that she was completely oblivious to everyone staring at her. It is so rude.
As for the bars, I don't think they are offensive. I think people are too sensitive sometimes. If you don't like that the bars focus on thinness, then don't buy them. There are lots of options. Some people are (and need to be) focused on losing weight in order to get healthy.
20I'd have to read the ingredients. I'm pretty sure I could feel a lot more full and get a lot more nutrients by eating fresh fruits, salad, nuts, and soy milk rather than a processed product.
21Obviously they won't bring about miracles. Nevertheless, for those on the Atkins diet, these bars can provide an addition to the limited variety of low-carb bars, which for people on Atkins would be helpful.
22I gave them a try & thought they we're disgusting!
23I thought they tasted horrible. Ugh. The name is bothersome, but if the taste was okay I would just grin and bear it!
24Haha! This reminds me of that old joke, "what else should i eat now to lose some more weight?" Eating an extra snack a day won't help you lose weight!!!! I've also seen bars that are supposed to make you lose weight if you subsitute an entire meal with them. An entire meal?? With a candy bar?! I'd rather have half of the meal and lose weight that way...
25People have become so obsessed with losing weight that food companies are shamelessly and mercilessly putting these eat-me-and-lose-weight products out on the market and actually selling them well! How evil!
Don't you think its a little hypocritical to hate on thinkthin bars and so vehemently endorse skinny b*tch? http://www.fitsugar.com/287442 I do. I liked skinny b*tch, and have stopped eating non organic, non free range meat except for fish, and i only eat free range meat or fish when out for dinner with others, or when people have me over to their homes and cook it for me, knowing i prefer it. but i also was in a super total hurry today and forgot my lunch and was DESPERATE for an affordable, vegan source of protein. Which thinkthin bars are. if you read the website, the CEO created them as a meal on the run. Yeah, its better to make a salad and eat it but if you can seriously eat a salad while on the run, i'd like to meet you and learn.
26OMG, I tried one bite of the Brownie Crunch ThinkThin bar the other day and UGH -- disgusting! It tastes, literally, the way cow manure smells. You could not PAY me to eat one of these things. I had to down 4 or 5 TicTacs to get the nasty flavor out of my mouth. STAY AWAY!
27I have tried these bars. I am not thin but that is not the reason I am buying them. I am buying them because they are Gluten FREE and taste great. When you have celiac disease and are limited to what you can eat...the title really doesn't matter. Don't judge a book by its cover sort of thing....or like my children's cartoon...try it you'll like it.
28I love the creamy peanut butter ThinkThin bars! I don't know what all you people are complaining about. If you don't like them don't buy them. Simple fix! But I like them and will continue to buy them. They have a 50¢ off coupon to print out and this makes the bars cheap compared to the other ones out there. This is just about the only bar that wasn't recalled for bad peanuts too. This proves to me they care what they put into it. If you need the extra protein this is a good way to get it. It's so much better tasting then tofu and so much more convenient than trying to make tofu taste good. If you call them they will even send samples and coupons. They are a great company!

30I came across them in a small market down the street from where I work and fell in love! For those of us who are sensitive to sugar, they are exactly what I've been looking for: low carb, lower in calories & fat compared to other protein bars, filling, and taste really good for a whey bar. My sister and I went online and ordered two boxes (Peanut Butter and the Brownie flavors) because it was cheaper than $2 a pop. They're hearty enough to eat for breakfast or lunch, especially if you don't have time to grab something (as i often do) while you're at work. One of my favorite protein bars on the market...made for women interested in losing weight and not starving in the process! Say what you will about the name, but just compare their nutritional info, ounce size, and taste to the other bars on the market and I think you'll have a change of heart.
31I actually love love love the taste of the Thinkgreen peanut butter chocolate bar better than a recess peanut butter cup. It does have more sugar than I would like but really hits the spot when I am having a sugary craving and does include quite a few superfoods. I also like the greens plus chocolate energy bar and the Comfort Bar in orange chocolate (if you can find it at whole foods). If you want a bar that tastes good these would have to be the top three in my opinion and I have tried about thirty different ones now.
32think bars rock. meal replacement so a meal at 230 calories is right in line... low G.I., low net carbs and some of the flavors are off the hook. long term company and they promote health through food and fitness, and not fad diets. For those who have not tried...maybe you should! Diane - 60 lbs. lighter and a whole lot happier!!
33I tried these and found them not too bad. I was thinking (pun intended) that these might be good for traveling. That is several days hitchhiking, walking or riding the bus. Three of these a day along with fruit, veggies, and whole grains might work when I need to carry several days worth of food and have no access to cooking facilities or healthy restaurants.
