It is time to change our clocks again this Sunday. That means that at 2 a.m. on November 4, you've got to set your clock back one hour. The saying, "Spring forward and fall back," always helps me remember which way the clocks go.
It's great that we gain an hour, but a new study shows that our bodies don't adjust well to the time shift. Although it's just a one hour difference, our natural clock (known as circadian rhythm), may take up to four weeks to adjust in the Spring and another six weeks to adjust in the Fall.
There have only been a few studies on the connection between Daylight Savings Time and human circadian rhythms, so it's not yet known if the constant changing has any significant long-term effects on our health. Hopefully this subject will be studied soon.
Since gaining an hour will definitely mess with your internal clock, be sure to listen to your body's needs. Eat and sleep when your body wants to, and gradually shift your old schedule back an hour. It may take a few days, or even a few weeks for things to feel normal again.
Fit's Tip: When you change your clocks back, don't forget to change the batteries in your smoke detectors.
People seem split on this time change and I am curious to know how you feel about gaining an hour? Tell me how you feel in the comment section below.

Yay! one more hour of sleep for Monday!!!!
1I'll gladly take the extra hour of sleep!!!
2Anyone know why Europe and the US don't change at the same time? Here it was last week.
3I hate it, it already gets dark at 6-6:30, now its gonna get gark at like 5-5:30 that is wayyyy to early. I loove the long summer dayswhen its stay light out until likt 8:00-8:30. I get SAD in the winter from the lack of light
4I think the US and Europe don't change at the same time this year because the government voted to move daylight savings earlier this year. It's so that school children are safer in the morning and aren't walking around in the dark on their way to school.
5I always wondered about how our bodies shifted. What about Birth Control - should we stay on the old time or switch to the new time. I actually use nuva ring so I only change once a month, but it's supposed to be the same time and day every month - I don't know this always confuses me!

7I hate Daylight Savings Time. It'll still be dark when I get up, plus it'll be dark before I leave work. My only consolation is that the days will start getting longer after the winter solstice.
8Doesn't affect us here in Arizona. We don't change our time............Yay!
9I like the extra sleep but...
I can't stand leaving work and it's pitch black and then the freezing cold starts here in Boston.
Cold and dark, not fun.
10I like the extra hour of sleep, but I hate that it's going to be dark so early now. I like the summer when it doesn't get dark until 9 or so...I miss that!
11I like the "fall back", but the early darkness is kind of a bummer.
12Fall backs the best.. especially when out on a Saturday night and realizing you have an extra hr! I'm almost 30-- that comment sounds like I'm 21!- but have fun plans tomorrow so I'm okay with that! Monday AM won't be so excited about the dark AM though.
13in my country since last year that our president changed he didn't change time! most computers and cell phones oh all bank offices wow we had too many problems two years everything didn't work properly now they will change starting next march
14I HATE the time change! ok, I REALLY HATE the time change!!! Have I made that clear yet? LOL Seriously, I do not know a single person who actually likes it when it gets dark at 4 in the afternoon. And I have never gotten a straight answer from anyone as to why it can't be left alone. why can't we all vote on this or something and leave it alone for good? Does it truly serve an important purpose to switch back and forth.
15is it for the people that actually have a tight routine? because one night i can go to sleep at 22.30, the next 02.00.
the same with waking up - 6am, 9am, 12pm... everyday is different, so i don't think my body will mind the time change.
16I work overnight shifts for an international news channel (therefore we run on GMT time).... my circadian rhythm has been utterly confused for over five months!!
For me, all it means is an extra hour of pay so bring it on! heheh
17Did everyone remember to set their clocks back last night? I liked the extra hour of sleep
Maddiemay, your avatar looks so much like mine it's kind of funny. Mine is a pic of me and my hubby at a cousin's wedding. You look really cute in your pic, btw!
18Spectra- You're totally right! We were at an awards banquet for my company in Monte Carlo!! Thanks btw!
19I love getting an extra hour on Sunday. I always leave my homework for Sunday even though I know I shouldn't, so it's sort of like a little gift.
20I love it because it means I have more daylight in the morning, so I actually have the chance to run in the daylight if I want to. Before, if I wanted to run in the morning, it wouldn't be light outside until an hour before work, which is of course is my getting ready time. Then I only had an hour after work before night set in, which was either spent having dinner (because I'm starving when I get hom at 6pm) or staying later at work!
