Me, I love the gym, but I know there are a lot of folks who despise it. However just because you hate the gym doesn't mean you have to hate to exercise.

Here are my top five reasons to workout at home:
- It's open all the time. If you have a busy/odd schedule, think night nurses, or stay at home moms, you can fit it in whenever it works for you and are not limited to the confines of hours of operation.
- It's not smelly. Gyms no matter how clean they are, always have the smell of a gym. So if you're finicky about smells, a home workout could be a good option.
- It's any class, any time. All you need is a DVD player and a few DVDs and it's your choice what class you take and when. Don't like the instructor, turn it off and try something else.
- It's just you. If you're not a fan of meat heads, toned bods or just other people in general, exercising at home means you're by yourself.
- It doesn't require waiting in line for a machine. You can use the treadmill when you want and the only waiting you may have to do is the time it takes to pickup your clothes that are hanging off of it. Oh, and there's no 30 minute time limit!
I am sure you guys have your favorite reasons for working out at home, so share them in the comments section below.

I love working out at home...I can go at my own pace and do whatever I want. Also, I love running around my neighborhood for cardio!
1skipping the gym makes things less complicated and quicker overall. i love being able to just step out my front door and go for a run. no driving to or from anywhere or dealing with locker rooms, plus its so much more motivating than the monotony of a treadmill. i too enjoy doing different workout DVDs at home (and also the fitsugar online videos!), and have a small, inexpensive collection of exercise equipment (dumbbells, resistance bands, etc) that allow me to get a great workou. not to mention it costs a lot less!
2I try to work out at home, but lose all motivation about 25 minutes in and go out shopping instead. Which, by the way, I count towards the exercise, haha.
3Guess, I'll pick up a few DVDs and see what I can accomplish over the winter, perhaps allowing a hot bubble bath for post-workot treat.
I like running on the treadmill at home sometimes because I can run with no shirt.
4the girl in the picture looks REALLY uncomfortable
5Working out at home allows you to save the money you would have spent on a gym membership to use for something else. I've also been hearing more about the bacteria on gym equipment. Yuck, who wants a staph or other type of infection?!
6Most of those reasons are pretty good, but I have a room in my house set up as a home gym and it DOES smell pretty bad. I think it's because it's carpeted, but I think sweat from my elliptical machine kind of gets on the floor. Other than that, I love working out at home. I can watch TV while I work out and I don't have to deal with idiotic people changing the channel or trying to blast the radio.
7all good. don't forget it's cheap or free... but it totally doesn't work for me. i need gym, or better yet a fitness class. it keeps me motivated and out of my very large lazy zone... it's the only thing that keeps me going.
8I went to the gym for years. Now I run in my neighborhood and have a nice collection of dvds. I like both, just don't have the schedule for the gym
9I workout out at home: I practice 3-4 times Pilates a week (about 40-60 minutes a session) and walk/run 3 times a week for 30 minutes each. That's satisfying for me
10I wish I could get into working out at home, because it's CHEAP, it doesn't really cost that much money(aside from workout DVDs and whatever else you use).
11I mix things up, outdoor exercise, classes, home dvds, public swimming pool, temporary gym memberships and hopefully soon horseback riding.
12I can't afford a gym membership right now so it's at-home/outdoors/etc. or nuttin'.
13I agree.
14i like working out at home because if you want to try a new exercise you dont feel akward. at the gym you may feel like people are watching you and that you may not be doing it quite right.
