We all have excuses as to why we don't work out. Is yours similar to this? I don't have time to workout.

My answer to that is simple; Yes you do. Here's how to fit it in:
- Friday night is date night. If your date night with your husband is like mine, it is necessary for the life of your marriage. So instead of the usual sappy movie and a large popcorn, try switching to something more active like bowling, miniature golf or dancing. Or make a daytime hiking date.
- Get up 30 minutes earlier one day a week to workout. Seriously, you can do one day a week. Once you have gotten used to that, add another day.
- Get active with your kids. When they are at swimming lessons, you can swim on the other end of the pool. When they are playing at the jungle gym, instead of sitting around like all of the other mothers, do some lunges, squats and pull ups while keeping an eye on them. Feel like you'll miss all the good gossip? Start a stroller walking group so you can walk and talk.
- Go to the gym during your lunch break. You may end up eating at your desk post-workout but you do that most of the time anyway and now at least you'll feel more energized in the end.
- Go to the gym with a plan of action. You can't waste time figuring out what to do next. Make a list and stick to it.
- Walk when possible. Start by parking in the back of the parking lot and walking. What's more? No door dings. After that, take 10 minutes out of your day to walk around (it could even release some stress).
- You can even work out while you're working using FIT's at your desk tips.
You can somehow always, even if it is small, get more active in your life. I'd love to hear your ideas -- tell me below!

when i dont work out i always blame it on not enough time...I love the idea of planning more physical dates!
1thx fit for making me feel really guilty.
*i must make time* *i must make time* i must make time*
No More Excuses! Thanks for the motivation!
2I used that excuse today!! gah! & look at me now... im on the computer. That excuse is really lame & I need to STOP it!
3Haha, postar, just do some glute squeezes at your computer, that's a workout right? LOL!
4ack... *poptstar, sorry for mispelling :0
5damn! I DID it again, *popstar (typing sloooowly)
6I have a standing date with a girlfriend to meet before work for a run 3x/week. This motivates me because I know she'll be there and I would feel guilty letting her (and me) down. Finding an exercise buddy helps a ton.
7Time is always a problem, but a bigger one is the $$$. I dont' have money to buy new clothes, I definitely don't have money for a gym membership. Or equipment. I used to walk around the business park at lunch time (and lost 30 pounds of baby weight!) but quit because there were no paths so I was walking in the road, getting rocks kicked up in my face by semis. Not fun. I wish I could find a substitute that's free and SAFE. I know I need to get up earlier to exercise, but I get up at 4:30 as it is. I need to quit my job to get skinny!
8Great comment Butrfly4404 and I hear ya! Did you see the post on sprinting at the track? Most tracks are open to the public (for FREE) for certain times during the day. Also keep an eye out for a post coming up soon that is a great way to get your heart rate up with out a lot of costs involved.
Keep the comments coming guys! They are really helpful for everyone!
9Butrfly why don't you try an excercise DVD they're not expensive (I've seen some as low as $7 on Amazon) and you can do it at anytime of the day or even in segments and get the same results as a gym. My problem is that I don't have enough energy I'm so dead tired when I come home from work! I love working out though.
10I'm glad I came back to this one!
I've never been much of a runner (I smoked for a long time so it killed to do anything up until a couple years ago). I tried running a few times, but I always ended up hurting (yes I warmed up). But if you were talking about the jump-rope as the upcoming post I think you hit the nail on the head. I, too, was a happy participant in Jump Rope For Life. When I saw that post, it was like a light bulb went off in my head. I can do that in my garage...any time of the day.
11Honeysugar, thanks for the suggestion. Back on my last 'kick' I bought the 10-minute kick boxing boot camp dvd. I really liked that, but it's found its way to the bottom of the DVD drawer (underneath all of my other excuses...time, exhaustion, etc...)
we've all been there. Full of excuses any excuse & none really make us feel better, do they? However, we always feel so much better after we worked out, so that motivates me (believe it or not) when I don't feel like it, I just think how great I feel after the workout & that's my motivation. Nothing exciting.
12that's my favorite excuse!!!!
:D:D
13but today i finally kicked it and did a 45-min excersise DVD
woo-hoo! I feel great
