Whether you let yourself overindulge or try to keep things in check, it's impossible not to think about food during Thanksgiving. Perhaps you only splurged on the dish that is totally worth the calories to you, or maybe you ate one more piece of pie than you said you would.
The important thing is not to let it get you down. So join me in the Thanksgiving confessional! Leave a comment to shed your guilt about your biggest Thanksgiving indulgence, and together we'll resolve to get back on track now that the feast is over.

I don't put limits on Thanksgiving or Christmas. Those are two guilt-free days of the year for me.
. My new invisalign probably kept me a little more in check than most years though.
1There's so much stuff about feeling guilty after Thanksgiving on here ... not cool in my book.
2why can't you just enjoy these few times of the year and celebrate? seriously sometimes i think women are mentally warped. it was one day of celebration and feast, enjoy it don't feel guilty... that's no way to live.
3"guilt" for food is silly. If you are aware of what full is, you don't make yourself sick you shouldn't feel "guilty"...I ran 3 miles to justify what I knew was coming (STUFFING WITH GRAVY - plenty of it! mm'mm!). Moderation, even on the holidays, is key.
4Jkat, I know exactly what you're saying about invisalign - having to brush your teeth EVERY time you eat really keeps you from snacking! Best diet tool ever, I say.
5I agree with the above posters re: post-Thanksgiving "guilt." But I will confess to doing a double workout today.
No guilt here, I worked out beforehand and I ate exactly what I wanted. I didn't pig out and I got to hang out with my family, so it was a good day.
6Because I already anticipated a giant feast, I worked out for an hour and half the day before. I had an extra piece of pie and loads of creamed corn and stuffing with ample amount of gravy poured over it. I could not eat healthy when 12 other people on the table were chowing down and enjoying it. This morning before work, I ran 3 miles and had a healthy breakfast. So I am back to my routine. Now looking forward to repeat during Christmas time.
7I think my biggest indulgence yesterday was the cheese and crackers, lol! But as for the actual meal, I only had one decent sized serving of everything (sweet potato casserole, turkey, stuffing, brussel sprouts, cranberry chutney... oh but I ate 2 rolls haha!). And I only ate one piece of pumpkin pecan cheesecake! (SO GOOD)
8I ate like it was a normal meal and had grapes instead of dessert. I don't think one day should be used to stuff my face... especially when I know how sick it would make me feel.
9No guilt here. Bring on the leftovers!
10No guilt here either. I decided which indulgences were worth it, indulged, and got over it. Holidays should equal happy time with family/ friends, enjoying life, and not overdoing it with food. I don't think our society has the right perspective with the holidays.
11Since I don't really use recipes to cook (I do a lot by taste), I'm usually full before we even sit down for the meal. It's not the best way to watch calories, but since I don't really eat once dinner is served I don't over eat, and my meal is spread out over the course of the day.
12Pie, Potatoes, bread and more pie. Then I had to go to my boyfriend's parents house and have a whole 'nother feast there too! I am going to be doing a lot of workin out this weekend!
13I ate small portions of everything...but I still felt sooooo stuffed! I think cause I'm not used to eating so much anymore. And I ate more pie than I should have
But I ran 4 miles in the morning, and this morning I did pilates and
ran 3.5 miles of intervals, so I'm feelin' pretty good
14I actually didn't really over do it. Although I too gave way to temptation in the face of the cheese and cracker platter, but overall I'm quite proud of myself. I made Fit's wonderful dark chocolate chip oatmeal pumpkin muffins and had one for dessert instead of pie and it was the perfect touch. Everyone else loved them too, even while chowing down on pumpkin pie with heaps of whipped cream.
15The only thing I ate all day was one slice of pumpkin pie (1/8 of the pie) and 5oz of light meat Turkey. Nothing else. and I worked out for about 70minutes (4mile run plus 45 min on elliptical).
16So no guilt here, though I kinda wish I hadn't eaten the pie.
No Thanksgiving where I live, so just an ordinary day, although severe stomach issues are making it so difficult to eat anything without attacks of pain that, believe me, if I could indulge in a huge delicious meal, it would be with gratitude, not guilt!
Teagan: I hope you aren't fighting with an ED at the moment. As a person with a past history of an eating disorder, your comment reminds me horribly of something I would have said at one time. "Exercised a lot, underate and still felt guilty about it". Very best wishes for recovery if you are; and if you're not, don't even entertain regrets about the pie! How hungry would you be if you hadn't eaten it!
17I did everything in moderation this year and tried to cook everything with a healthy modified recipe - and didn't eat any meat - Quorn "turkey" roast was really good this year - way better than the Tofurky or Unturkey from previos years.
18I don't believe in food guilt either. Food is supposed to be enjoyed!
19Some of the foods you guys have posted sound soooo good.
going veg saved me guilt this year, almost everything my aunt cooks has some form of meat in it. dinner of veggies with a roll and some pie and ice cream for dessert, eating lightly the rest of the day and a good workout. Loving the no guilt feeling ladies, its about time that we give ourselves a break!
20Teagan--all you ate was a piece of pie and some turkey? That's like, less than 800 calories. I'm with Wild Magelet--if you are struggling with ED behaviors, I wish you the best in your recovery.
21i am all for splurging, i don't "deny" myself much, but i seriously felt like a hippo after my delish meal. fried turkey, mashed sweet tatos, broc casserole, mac-n-cheese...sooooo much more. aside from the turkey our meal was essentially fat free, so what's there to feel guilty about...so two slices of pie is acceptable, right? friday i had to play tennis and run, i felt so icky, so my husband seriously chased me around to keep me running...that sounds messed up...but it was really fun. that sounds messed up too. we are going on a clean diet starting tomorrow. i am soooo pumped.
22I'm very proud of myself this year. I had a little bit of everything at Thanksgiving, and when I was done I was full, but not stuffed, and I never felt guilty.
23It's not Thanksgiving up in Canada right now, but last night my parents, fiance, and I all went to an Italian buffet, and I went pretty crazy with the carboloading. Not only did I feel guilty, but I also was in serious pain, and almost didn't keep the food down! Never..again...
24No guilt here! I only eat like an oinker twice a year:)
25I went to Jamaica for the week and stayed at a resort with all food and drinks included - so i seriously ate a feast for breakfast, lunch and dinner 7 days in a row... and drank a lot too! haha. I really don't feel guilty about it. It's a vacation I was looking forward to all year and when the food and drinks are included, dammit, I am going to get my money's worth. I'm active and eat healthy almost every day of the year and I knew I was going to live it up for this one week. No regrets. No guilt. Life is too short to worry about that extra piece of pie!
26I feel sorry for all of you who think eating a large meal with your family is something to be ashamed of. How sad and shallow you must be, to not be able to appreciate the time spent with your loved ones because you're too busy worrying about the extra five miles you think you'll have to run to work off that pat of butter.
This is not a healthy way to think, folks, and it's disturbing how many of you seem to think it's normal. Please get help.
27I don't feel guilty about anything I ate I just feel guilty for not working out for 3 or 4 days. I felt so sleepy and sluggish, and then I just loved the feeling of sitting around reading books. I had three feasts: Breakfast with husband's friends, Lunch with his fam, then dinner with our mutual friends. The stuffing was awesome this year, btw (i had a huge plate for lunch the day after). And the potatoes (mashed and sweet). And the pumpkin cheesecake. And the pumpkin pie. Turkey was meh. I
