A lot of us shy away from the rowing machine at the gym. Usually it's for good reason because that machine can be downright scary. However rowing can be a great way to switch up your workout. Not only does it get your heart pumping, but it also works your upper and lower body. Talk about multitasking.

Before you sit down and start rowing your little heart out, you may want to learn a thing or two about how to do it properly. Luckily for us, Concept2.com is giving away a FREE Rowing Technique DVD. All you have to do is click here to enter your request. While you wait for it to arrive, check out my rowing machine dos and don'ts.

This is great! I've been looking at the rowing machine to mix up my cardio, plus I really need to work on some upper body strength, but was always too intimidated.
1thanks for the tip! i only recently added the rowing machine to my cardio routine and it's not nearly as intimidating as it might look. it's a great way to focus on my upper body while doing some cardio.
2Haha, I used to use the rowing machine at the ghetto gym at my dorm when all the other cardio machines were being used. I never thought it was as "good" as the other machines, but it really does give you a good workout.
3I love the rowing machine - no matter how crowed the gym is the rower is always open.
4I was a rower for a year, and therefore the rowing machine is the bane of my existence! After a year of rowing my coach said I was too small and made me a coxswain (the person who sits and yells). Anyway, I can't look at a rowing machine without flashbacks to "erg tests" - basically going as fast as you can for a set distance/time.
