I found the DVD title Yoga Conditioning for Weight Loss (by Gaiam) confusing, since yoga is not generally considered an aerobic activity (and I associate aerobic activity with weight loss). But the series of poses, taking only 45 minutes to do, works to restore the balance between mind and body. The class, lead by Suzanne Deason, contains standing poses, lots of twisting since it stimulates the digestive organs, and some abdominal work - often a rarity in yoga. Three students, with varying body shapes and sizes, modify the poses to varying degrees of difficulty, and I think that is cool.
Despite the initial confusion, this is a great program for yoga beginners, returning students, or people with upper body injuries that can’t bear weight on their hands.
If you want to try it before you buy it, you can put this DVD on your Netflix queue, then buy it at a reduced price from Amazon.
Namaste as they say at the end of yoga class.
