Winter rain and snow means it is indoor cycling season: I'm talking about spinning. Equinox has filled its Cycling Studio with new spin bikes by Schwinn. The bikes are pretty dang sweet.

I rode one during 45 minutes of Sports Cycling, and the ride was smooth and comfy with so many different hand grips available — the handlebars are tilted for ergonomic placement. The tension on the fly wheel is created by magnets too, ensuring that all the bikes in the room create the same tension across the board. Best of all the bikes have console computers, which not only work with most heart rate monitors, but also measure miles per hour, cadence, distance, and watts. The pedals have cages, if you don't have cycling shoes, and the pedals are compatible with road bike cleats as well as mountain bike cleats — very versatile.
These indoor cycling bikes will arrive at Equinox gyms starting now throughout early Winter. They are exclusively at Equinox for the time being, but these bikes can only spell upgrades for most gyms. Tell me, do you spin?

I heart my Equinox. Can't wait to try these
1I've heard of these bikes ! I just really don't like spinning... I so much more perfer to be outdoors
2I Spin! I'm an instructor so I place myself in an indoor cycle room at least five times a week. I love my road bike but I'm paid to teach. That said, the pic with this post is bad form! The body is not centered on the bike and the hands are in the middle of the handle bars when they should only be at the back or the end of the bars. The saddle should always brush your thighs (like a dog sniffing around). Finally the handlebars are lower than the saddle and that should not ever happen unless you want your lower back to hurt and to tighten into an immovable set of muscles. Do not follow the example shown in the picture!
3". . . all the bikes in the room create the same tension across the board" What?! My 5 foot, 115+ pound female body sure would not want the same tension as a 6 foot 250 male body!
4I spin! I was always so impressed that my old gym (Sports Club/LA) had monitors on the bikes for RPMs, mileage and heart rate, but these bikes seem even better! I would love to try them out! Maybe I can come across a guest pass...
