Over the weekend I was suggesting that you get out and play a fun (and possibly slightly competitive) game of wiffle ball. Well, I just had to tell you about something I found that will make it even better!

Pink wiffle balls! How awesome is that? Not only are they prettier than plain old white balls, (and won't show dirt as easily) but they send women and young girls the very important message that sports are NOT just for men.
I am a full supporter in any product that encourages females to play team sports. They'll learn how to work with others, challenge themselves individually, and most importantly will see how important it is to move and use their bodies everyday. Plus these are cheap too, only $3.97 for 6 through Dick's Sporting Goods. I'm loving these pink wiffle balls!

I kind of think it's a good message, that sports aren't just for men, but isn't it a bit degrading to assume that "girls like pink"? I never liked the color myself and I actually would prefer the white ones
1I don't understand why we have to feminize everything. Why does playing sports suddenly have to be girly? I hate pink sports equipment (almost as much as I LOATHE pink jerseys/baseball caps/etc). I find it very hard to believe that a girl who has no interest in going outside to play wiffleball is suddenly going to want to play if the ball is pink. Personally, when a female shows up for sports practice with any sort of pink equipment, I think it makes them look like they're not taking it seriously and showing that they're too girly for whatever sport it is.
2I agree with Spectra in a way. I mean I like the color pink, but I don't think it's fair to assume that every girl likes that color. Actually, I think it's demeaning. There are other ways to encourage women to play team sports.
3Thanks for bringing that point up! You're right that not every girl loves pink, but MANY young girls do (especially the girly ones). I think it's a great way to attract girls to team sports, those who otherwise wouldn't be interested - Get em hooked while they're young!
4Good point, FitSugar. I remember when I was younger I even wanted a pink house. How crazy was I? LOL!
5Keep in mind that it's not a real wiffle ball. The real ones have holes only on one side tha tmake the ball curve. These are kinda faking it.
6I take issue with the assumption that young girls don't naturally want to play sports and that we have to somehow "trick" them into trying team sports by enticing them with pink wiffle balls and other supposedly "girly" colored equipment in order to "get em hooked" young.
If we raise our daughters to be athletic and try new things they will try team sports out if they're interested...we don't have to degrade them by being like "hey, girly girl, it's a pink wiffle ball..."
