I must admit I am not much of a vitamin taker. I strive to eat my nutrients in a daily, well-balanced diet. However, I do think supplements are great for people worried about reaching their recommended daily intake of essential vitamins and minerals, especially for pregnant or nursing women or those with dietary restrictions. So when it comes to multivitamins, tell me . . .

I don't, but I really should.
1Yes, I take a Flintstones vitamin
It's the only vitamin I can deal with taking
everyday.
2I take one as often as I remember, despite the fact that I really hate taking vitamins. (I love the chewable vitamins, but they are too expensive.) I also have a chewy calcium supplement as often as I can remember. I try to have healthy, balanced meals too... but I don't have the time to make sure that I'm getting the daily requirements for all of the dozens of vitamins/minerals, so it's nice to not have to worry about it.
3I didn't, until I learned it was good for your hair.
4Everyone should take a multi-vitamin supplement! Of course it's very important to eat a healthy diet to acquire nutrients. However, it's impossible to meet our Optimal Daily Intake requirements through our diet.
5My favorite Multi-V is called RAW ONE from Garden of Life. It is a raw food-based multi that's in a capsule so it's super easy to swallow. PLUS, it doesn't smell bad or turn you pee yellow!
I didn't used to because I eat a very healthy, balanced diet, and I figured that was enough. Then when I was hospitalized last January for appendicitis, blood tests showed that I was deficient in both vitamin D and iron. So now I take a daily multivitamin along with fish oil for omega 3's.
6sblighm - I take the same one! Quality is so important with vitamins.... so many ones out there that are not even worth taking!
7I do because I figure it can't hurt. Also, I believe that that and getting plenty of sleep is what keeps me from getting sick.
8I take multivitamins! They're called fruits and vegetables.
9I try to get my vitamins in my food, but sometimes it's hard and I don't want to get deficient. I used to take GNC MegaWomen until I realized that every time I ran out, if I skipped a week or so, I gained weight! It has green tea extract and some other herbs that probably speed up your metabolism a little or act as a diuretic. I'm all about speeding up my metabolism but I want to do it by exercise, not become dependent on a vitamin to do it for me.
Now I take the Trader Joe's women's formula. It still turns my pee Mountain Dew yellow like the GNC (can be shocking if you forget you took the vitamin an hour or so before you go!) but I don't feel like it's artificially stimulating me the way the GNC did.
10Oh - but if you have problem with stomach aches from taking a vitamin pill, either the TraderJoes or the GNC would be good. I tried the Centrum Women's Energy formula and had to get off the subway a few mornings and stand still for a bit on a platform because it made me so nauseous that I thought I was going to barf on the train!
11I take supplements as recommended by my physician. Two reasons: 1) I have chronic back pain, and it is better to take glucosimine than NSAIDs everyday; and 2) I have a Vitamin D deficiency.
12I don't, but I'm shopping around for a good one. I'm keeping an eye out, but it's tough trying to find a good, vegetarian MV.
13I take a multi, plus a calcium/magnesium supplement, plus folic acid, wild salmon oil, a probiotic, and sometimes milk thistle. Vitamin D too- it's dark when I go to work and dark when I get off.
14I don't take any vitamins. The only reason I ever would is if it was specifically recommended by my physician.
15No, I developed an allergy against most supplements. Now, I'm really vigilant about eating a variety of fruits and veggies.
16I take a salmon oil supplement everyday and vitamin D. I'm a big sunscreen advocate so I know I need that extra vitamin D from my supplement. I take a multivitamin on days when I feel like my food choices weren't balanced and I might be missing some important vitamins/minerals.
17My mom headed up the health dept campaign in our state to raise awareness of the importance of women getting enough folic acid. The recommended way to do that is through a multivitamin, every day. All of her (and her team's) research revealed that a varied, healthy diet that supplied the FDA recommended levels was almost impossible to achieve, even for the most careful of healthy eaters.
I take the store-brand version of One-a-Day's women's formula with dinner every day. I added a vegetarian-sourced DHA supplement to get my long-chain omega-3s. I've never had a problem with yellow pee or stomach cramps. I didn't even know that some people experienced that!
18I eat a lot of fruits and veggies, but I also take a multi and a fish oil supplement just to cover my bases. I've also started adding a sublingual B12 tablet to my regimen because it really helps my energy levels.
19I've been taking fish oil supplements for years, but I just started taking a multivitamin again a few months ago. It took me a couple of days to remember that I have to take the multivitamin with a meal, or else I can't keep them down. That's a bit more annoying than the fishy burps, which I can't seem to prevent no matter how I take those pills.
20I wish I could, but I just don't know what to take.
I am certain I am not getting enough vitamins. I've been eating low-cal for a while now and have lost weight, but I am sure that alongside that I have lost nutrients. I almost never drink milk, not a huge fan of cheese, my body barely ever sees the sun and I hate fish.
I am just not sure what to take, what the side effects are, and which products are worth the effort.
21I eat a fairly healthy diet but to be on the safe side, I take a multi vitamin every morning with food and calcium supplements later in the day.
22D+Calcium in the morning, my family has history of brittle bones plus I'm from Northern Europe where it's common for women (all that extra vitamin A washing calcium out of the bones there's a great BBC documentary on it). And I take a basic multivitamin+minerals with 50% of daily dose of vitamin A (I always make sure to get the lowest I can get as my diet is full of it). Vitamin C during cold and flu season.
23hair, skin and nails!
24EVERY DAY!!! Never skipped! Taking my vitamins is so ingrained in my mind! I feel super healthy too!
