It wasn't until I had kids that I realized the importance of between meal snacks for keeping the crankies at bay. These days I have fully embraced snacks as part of my food plan, and since my snacks are similar to what I feed my girls, I am eating healthy foods. Most days I have a snack between breakfast and lunch — a piece of fruit, a handful of nuts, or both. I also eat something between lunch and dinner — I have to or else cooking a well-balanced dinner is out of the question because I am starving. What about you?

it depends on the day
1No.
2I eat 5-6 meals a day and some of those are smaller snack like meals. So I'm not sure exactly where I fall in this poll.
3I always eat breakfast and lunch, but I sometimes substitute a series of evening snacks for dinner.
4I'm a grazer. I snack on my meals - i.e. it takes me about anywhere from 1 to 2 hours to eat meal. I take a bite here and there as I feel necessary. I snack on healthy stuff throughout the day. If I grab a bag of chips or something (which is very rare) it may look like I've been chowing down on chips for an hour, but in reality I've only had like 8 or 10 chips total in that hour.
5I don't graze because I keep active for half of the day by working out and somehow that cuts my appetite....but since I am aware of the 'five small meals per day' principle i tend to eat something healthy like a fruit or so, every 3-4 hours...to keep my metabolism up.
6During the week I eat 3 meals and two snacks without fail. In the weekends however I play it by ear because my schedule is all over the place but I rarely go more than 4 hours without eating something.
7I have to eat a snack between lunch or dinner, otherwise I feel like I am starving.
8Yep. Two snacks during the day (between breakfast/lunch then between lunch/dinner). And usually a small treat after dinner.
9None of the above . . . I keep packets of almonds in my desk drawer, and if I get really hungry before lunch or in the late afternoon, I eat about 3-4 almonds, which curbs hunger pangs without filling me up.
10It depends on the day for me, and what I have planned. I will keep fruit and nuts around incase I get hungry between meals, but I try to avoid snacking too much, only if the span between meal is large do I really need it.
Also, a lot of people say that you should eat a snack before you go to a party to sort of "pre-fill" your tummy. I find I end up eating the same sized meal anyways, and the snack ends up being wasted calories.
11eating the recommended 6x a day can be overwhelming I much prefer four, that way I don't feel like I have been eating the entire day and can function without feeling like a blob. lol. Whilst still keeping my metabolism from crashing.
12I usually have 2 planned snacks at around the same time every day. It keeps me from getting too hungry in between meals so I'm not tempted to eat other junk.
13I don't usually need the snack between breakfast and lunch, but normally between lunch and dinner and then one after dinner. I call it a snack, but it's usually only a little smaller than a normal meal. I try to eat small meals 5 times a day.
14I cannot eat large meals and am very much in the grazing group. I just get way to full so fast!
15Usually I snack between lunch and dinner and, on some days, between breakfast and lunch. If I didn't have to fix a bigger meal at night for my family, I'd probably be the ultimate grazer.
16As a vegetarian, its just easier to grab an apple or make a small homemade whole wheat bread w/ homemade almond butter sandwich than to make a grand meal. I probly eat about 6-7 times, once every couple of hours, but I keep it small, less than 200 calories of healthy whole food based goodness every time. And lots of lemon water in between snacks! its a great way to eat without feeling stuffed
17Strangely, I have to have two snacks during the work day or else I will get distracted and begin to fantasize about my dinner. However, on the weekends, I don't have the same problem and skip the snacks.
18Sometimes I snack in between meals, sometimes I can't even find the time to sit down and have a meal.
19I snack between meals.I usually don't eat big meals so I snack in between.
20I snack fairly often...mostly because I'm in college and am on the way to or from class. When I am home, I do have a small breakfast and either a small lunch or dinner depending on the day! My meals aren't that big.
21i just discovered that all my meals sizes are like snacks!
222 Tsp of rice
slice of whole wheat bread
handful of anything
even my lunch box is divided for four small squares!
I can't do the routine thing, so sometimes, when I am starving at school I will snack on some nuts or popcorn (best vending machine options) but at home, I usually have breakfast, then a late lunch, and a snack-sized dinner like greek salad wrap. Usually no snacking. I will eat fruits and nuts when they are around the house, but I don't really eat them as snacks, more like cravings.
The only times I mess up is when I skip lunch and end up scarfing down a huge dinner.
23If I do snack it's usually at work, I'll have something little before my break.
24If I'm not at work I'll have something small between lunch and dinner.
