I live in Canada. Upper Canada. Nuff said.
It's pretty cold most of the time here in Wisconsin, too. I don't mind running or walking outside as long as I'm layered well and as long as the snow is well-shoveled.
I live in Vermont, and normally this time of year, there is snow on the ground and it's about 30 degrees. But it's been really nice the past couple weeks - in the 40s. I'll run until it hits the 20s, and that's my limit. As long as you're bundled with the right wicking gear, you'll stay warm.
I run outside as long as it's not raining or very windy and use my bike to get around the city in all weather conditions. I once got sick when running out at -7°C, so I just wear more clothes since.
I live in Iowa, which gets really cold in the winter, but I prefer to exercise indoors year-round.
Right now the temperature is okay in Chicago (40s F), but during the winter the temperature can fall lower than -10 F and the wind chill is usually -30 F so I try to avoid the outdoors as much as possible during the winter. Once it hits freezing, I won't run outside.
I'll run outside in pretty much any weather !
It doesn't get very cold where I live so I love to run outside in the winter. It doesn't get much lower than the low 40s during the day so it is perfect running weather. In the summer it gets too hot to run outside unless you run early in the morning so it is nice to go on a run anytime of day. I definitely prefer spring marathons to fall marathons because of the this.
I also exercise inside though so I can lift weights.
I'm a total whimp and can't run outside if it's below 45F. It's fine once I get warmed up, but getting to that point is torture for me. I don't have to worry about that on the treadmill though.
I live in Chicago, I don't mind running outside until it hits the teens or colder. That is just too hard on my lungs. I also avoid running after the snow is on the ground and not going anywhere for awhile. I am too scared of slipping on some ice and pulling/tearing/breaking something. I take my workouts indoors pretty much all of January and February and do my workout dvds. I would love to have a treadmill!
Michigan. Studded tires. 'Nuff said.
Well folks it's clear that you think that only people who experience four seasons read your blog tsk tsk! Anyway - I live in Jamaica and it is summer ALL YEAR ROUND and so I prefer indoor workouts all the time.....it's too hot outside ALL THE TIME. As I type the temp is 86 degrees F and it will only get to 75F tonight!
I live in Chicago and almost always run outside, year round. This will be my first year not on a cross country or track team, so I may be running inside more often this year. But I remember running outside and blinking and having my eyes stick together because it was so cold. Ice would form on my eyelashes. And sweat in my hair would form into a block of ice! So gross, but very hard core.
Teagan - I would have loved to have seen a pic of that!!
It rarely gets below freezing here, so I'm almost always comfortable working out outside in the winter. But there are still too many muggy winter mornings when it's 70 degrees and 97% humidity at 6:00 am. Then I have to keep it inside.
I live in Australia so I love exercising in winter because it keeps me cool!
Indoor
Nice thing about living in California is that I can workout outside anytime, however, I usually push my self harder and stay more focused at the gym.
Rain or Shine... Hot or Cold... I am an indoor exerciser - hands down! But even if I did enjoy working out outdoors, I don't think I could brave the -10s and lower in the morning where I live!
