ha, Ryan and I have almost the exact same marathon time! (mine is 3:50:43)
1Great job runningesq, I have been trying to break 4 hours and haven't been able to do it. I am hoping the LA marathon in the spring will be my time:)
25/5
Runningesq - breaking 4 hours is quite impressive! Do you think you'll try and
qualify for Boston at some point? You're so close!
3Thanks kclulu ! good luck at LA in the spring.. I went 4:02:10 at Marine Corps in 2006 and that broke my heart... I ran 3:55 at Richmond the following year and then a 3:50 at National this past March.
The key for me was PACING. I went out too fast at Marine Corps and really paid for it when I hit mile 18... no gas left in the tank. My advice is to go out at about a 9:06 pace and hold that as consistently as possible. You'll feel good at the start, you might get swept up with other people and run sub 9s... and think that you're "banking" time. Trust me, the time you "save" at the beginning by going out too fast WILL catch up with you.
good luck !!
4Thanks chloe! I am 10 minutes away from my BQ time (3:40:59). I wanted to try it this year but decided to tackle an Ironman instead. Soon, though ! I HOPE !
5If you can do an ironman, you can do anything! Good luck!
65/5 Wohoo! I'm entering the NYC lottery to see if I get in next year
7good luck, carmen ! my friend is running it next year b/c she wasn't picked in the lottery for the past 3 years
8Great i will be there !!!!
9Holy Toledo....I did not expect to have a time faster than Ryan Reynolds!! Granted, he's a guy, so with some focused training he could probably blow my first-marathon finish of 3:46 out of the water.
Six minutes from Boston...can't decide if I want to try again this spring or wait til next fall....I only just ran my first one a couple of weeks ago, I'm still sore!
10I got 5/5...that can only be because I'm running it too!
