Enjoy Your Travels: Adjust to Time Change

One of the hardest things about traveling over the holidays is adjusting to the time change (if your travels require one). The key to feeling good is to get adjusted to the new time zone quickly. One thing I suggest is to set your watch (to the new time) on the airplane before you take off (from your origin). This way you'll start to adjust to the time change well in advance.

If you're always saying, "Well sure it's 9 am here, but where I live, it's only 6am. No wonder I'm so tired...," your brain is going to have a hard time adjusting -- Especially since you keep reminding it of how offset things are. Instead of focusing on the time, focus your energy on eating healthy, exercising and relaxing.

I always suffer from jet lag and have a really hard time adjusting to time zones, especially if they are a 5+ hour difference ... the best way is to really fight your way through the sleepiness, but it is really tough. I heard that drinking herbal ginger tea really helps, though I've never tried it!

Jet lag is the worst. I recently had to travel for work to a 6 hour time difference... the most helpful thing to me was to sleep with the curtains open so my body knew when daylight was. I could have slept until 4pm with the windows shut.

Last year my body had the Sh*t kicked out of it with all my travelling!
First, I left Canada to go on a 3 month backpacking trip throughout western Europe (that was my first time out of Canada and wow did I hav jet lag). After the 3 months I flew back to Canada where a spent about 5 days at home and then I jumped on ANOTHER plane to Fiji.
Fiji is SO far, and that was about 24 hours of travelling.
Thank goodness I had 2 1/2 weeks to recover before I jumped on the plane back home, but let me tell you, I really know how to adjust to time changes now!
