i used to work out after work. but it is so nice to get it out of the way in the morning, the gym is quieter and i feel so much more awake by the time i get to work. the only difficulty is making sure i go to bed early the night before!
i hit the gym every morning and it definitly wakes me up and makes me feel better about the day
also, the gym is less crowded so i'm not fighing for any machines or equiptment
If I don't work out in the morning, I'll find a million excuses to not work out later in the day. I try be at the gym by 7 AM when it's less crowded; for the rest of the day, I feel energized and more ready to face the day ahead.
I don't really have the time to hit the gym during or before work, but I pass the gym on the way home, so I make myself go...sometimes my energy isn't up there...but after an hour there I feel better about myself.
It's hard to get up that early in the morning.
It's hard to get out of bed earlier, but once I'm actually exercising, I love working out in the morning. It puts me in a much better mood and I'm much more relaxed when I get to work.
i'm starting school up again in a few days and realized that all my exercise will be walking to and from class. its a 15-20 minute walk each way. woot!
I want to start working out in the a.m. but it's SO hard for me to wake up that early!!
Currently I hit he gym after work, it helps me burn off the stress that's accumulated throughout the day. But I will try for the a.m. work outs.
I like going at lunch. It's not crowded, and it's a great break in the middle of the day.
to people who go at lunch--how long do you exercise for? and do you shower after you exercise? I just can't fathom how you can fit exercising, showering, changing, etc into an hour lunch break
I actually work out 30 minutes in the morning before work, and then 30 minutes in the evening after work. It really helps me maintain myself.
I would prefer to work out in the morning but I just can't get up that early!
I'm nocturnal but I work 9-5, so morning exercise is not really an option (I can't get up before 8 because I don't usually go to bed before 1.) 5:30 in the afternoon is the perfect time for me to work out, right after I get home from work.
Before.
I've done both pre- and post- work workouts, and right now, I'm really preferring the morning. I feel like it's more effective, and it also frees up my afternoon for whatever I want/need to do! And if I have nothing on tap, sometimes I just make it a "two-a-day" and throw in a pilates tape in the evening.
i used to work out really early in the a.m. and i loved it... not the beginning part - but when your done and everything is quiet and the air is still cold... but it got hard to wake up earlier than i already did. so i started running at night, and even though i feel sometimes it becomes harder for me to sleep, i do like it - because it helps me relieve all the stress i accumulated throughout the day
its not that I have more energy at night, it's more that I am horrible, i mean really horrible at waking up early and there's not enough time @ lunch to do it, so the evening just fits my life. if a gym were closer to my house then i'd go in the a.m. *maybe* but so far, i'm a nightie

I like working out in the morning because the rest of the day is yours. That way if something comes up I don't have to stress about missing a workout or trying to fit a quick one in.
I have much more energy throughout the day if I go to the gym before work/school. Unfortunately, I cannot drag my butt out of bed in the morning, so I am stuck going to the gym after night classes.
I would love to go to the gym in the morning before work. However, I have a very long commute and I don't think I can go to the gym at 5:30 am. So I go after work which is hard as well after a long day.
I totally agree with ashcwebb. My energy isn't always there, but after I work out for an hour, I always feel better about myself.
