When to Buy Organic
I like to think most of us would like to buy local and organic foods 100 percent of the time, but it means paying extra, which a lot of us can't always do. A good compromise is choosing organic when it makes the most sense for our health.
Here's our recommendation on foods to buy organic whenever possible due to high pesticide contamination, as well as those foods you can opt for conventional to be kind to your pocket book. I would like to add that you should try to buy local produce too — it'll taste fresher and have traveled many fewer miles to reach you.

At least the celery and peaches were covered here: http://www.fitsugar.com/1802356
I've just signed up for a service that delivers all-organic, mostly-local fruits & veg weekly so I don't have to go looking around any more
And it's cheaper than the supermarket, win!
1I'd like to add potatoes and sweet potatoes to this list. Very important to eat organic version as they absorb everything around them.
2Very interesting. I wondered about bannanas -- based on the foods listed here, I'd guess that non-organic would be fine too.
3Question about apples. Are organic apples coated with wax? I refuse to eat unwaxed apples b/c I have bitten into thick, juicy worms too many times!
4If its available in your area, I would recommend signing up for a local produce delivery. For example, Washington Green Grocers (http://www.washingtonsgreengrocer.com/) delivers once a week to Washington DC residents. They offer seasonal produce, and considering the amount of food delivered, it is no more expensive than buying at a grocery store. Plus, it really forces you to try new types of veggies and fruits that you might not normally buy. I've used this service for several months now, and only buy certain staple foods (milk, eggs, etc.) from my grocery store.
