Fall spells cooler weather and shorter days. As the seasons change, I notice that I change up my fitness routine quite a bit too. I stay indoors more and will opt for the rowing machine over an early morning bike ride.
What's most interesting to me is that I make the effort to wake up extra early to work out in the morning. Something about leaving work in the freezing dark dampens my fitness spirit.
What about you — do the Fall and Winter months affect your fitness routine?

I'm the opposite, I can't stand the summer heat, so now I can run/bike outside a LOT more than in the summer.
1I always workout indoors but when the colder temps hit, I tend to get lazier, but my schedule does not change much.
2I'm with you, sara.
3Yes - I usually work out indoors in the winter! It gets to -4F (-20 Celcius - hope I got that conversion right) here.
4Not really.
but I try to get out as much as I can !
5Running = the same, just more layers
Swimming = indoors, not out
Biking = more inside on the trainer
I try and run outside as late in the year as possible. Our weather in the winter is weird. It can be -30 w/ a windchill of -40 one day and then the next day we get a chinook and it'll be zero-perfect for a run!
6so basically we take it week by week!
the -30 days I take cardio inside when I normally do strength training. or take classes
7I can't get in a quick hike after work when its dark out, so I definitely have to force myself to get to the gym more when its not summer. Its much harder to convince myself to go there than a nice hike outdoors or a run at night during warm weather months.
8I run outdoors only in the winter. It's too hot and humid to do it here in the summer.
9My routine doesn't change much. I tend to workout indoors on a regular basis (live in warm/smoggy part of CA.) However, the one great thing about fall out here is the temp/smog less brutal so now I can go for a weekend hike without sun stroke or serious injury to my lungs!
10Yes, I don't have the workout spirit when its dark out. And its dark in the morning if i wake up early enough to work out before work. And its dark when i get home in the evening. So the winter requires extra will power and motivation for me.
11i'm the opposite. Summers are hell here (over 110 every day) so fall/winter is the only time I actually CAN work out outside. We've just come out of triple digits (yay!) so we've been riding bikes and taking walks more! it's great!
12I work out indoors for the most part, so the winter doesn't really change that. If I'm going to run outside, I'll just put more layers on.
13I actually work out twice as much in the Fall cause I like the weather better..I cannot work out under a strong sun at all...it just doesn't agree with me. So I am getting in many more half day hikes! It's beautiful outside now!!
14I often work out MORE in the fall because of the cooler weather, though light is an issue so sometimes I'll go indoors if I feel unsafe (like I can't see ice, or there has been an assault in the area). Maybe it's a runner thing, but the fall inspires me to work out more.
