One way I beat boredom while doing cardio inside is to watch movies. I'll start one and watch about 30 minutes or more, and then the next time I work out, I'm excited to continue where I left off in the flick. I'm lucky to have a machine at home I can walk or run on, but if you don't, check out Cardio Theater. Fitworks health clubs offer a huge room with cardio machines in front of a 15-foot theater screen, so you feel like you're at the local cinema, not at the gym. You can watch movies, TV shows, or sports games, and it makes the time go by so fast. Cardio Theater is included in the price of the membership at their Cincinnati, Akron, Cleveland, Dayton, Ohio, and Northern Kentucky area clubs. If you don't live in these areas, I'm sure it'll be just a matter of time before other fitness clubs catch on. Tell me, would you want a Cardio Theater at your gym?

I do this - I often put on Seinfeld episodes or That 70's show and use the elliptical while watching.
1I love this idea. I hate commercials when watching regular TV, and that's all they have at my gym.
2That's pretty cool ! I DVR shoes during the week and watch them on our flat screen while I'm on my bike trainer
3Very innovative! Whatever gets people moving....
4I'm getting caught up on mad men during my workouts... i get so engrossed in the show that i don't even realize that my 45 minutes has gone by!
5absofreakinlutely! when are they bringing one to dc?!
6My gym has personal tv's on all cardio equipment and also a cardio theater. Other locations of my gym even have dvd players on the tv's....mine doesnt though.
I enjoy watching my tv shows on the cardio equipment but I hate the cardio theater. The only pro is that it's dark and no one sees me all sweaty and red-faced. Other than the dark, it's really loud with all the machines in an enclosed area and it can be hard to hear the movie. If they made it so you could put headphones on to hear it like they do on the regular machines that would be awesome....maybe in the future.
7I would love that! I also enjoy running outside but due to weather and time constraints that isnt always possible so doing a treadmill workout will watching something on the big screen would be fantastic.
8Great Idea!
9I love it! I work out at Crunch in San Francisco. The location I go to is a previous movie theatre. So they make use of that and have a big screen and play movies. So even if I have my tunes, I love watching (and reading subtitles) movies to make working out more fun.
10I think more gyms should do this. And to embrace what previous business the gym is opened at.
The Golds Gym I go to in Round Rock, TX (just a little north of Austin) also has a Cardio Cinema. I've never tried it because I'm so used to my music when I run. Maybe I'll try it today...
11My old gym had a tv on every cardio machine, and I always wished they played DVDs. I also hate the commercials.
12All the cardio machines at my gym have mini TVs on them so you can plug your headphones in and watch whatever you want. It really does make the time go by quickly.
13This is awesome! How fast are they expanding?
14The Gold's Gyms here (Lexington, KY). I like it in theory, but as someone else, said, the machines can get loud. The other problem is that I would get sucked into a movie and want to stay and watch it even after my workout was over!
15Ooops. meant to say that the Gold's Gyms here have them.
