Typically when we see celebs going to, or coming from, the gym they are in the latest and greatest gear. I recently spotted cool Claire Danes prancing around in her gym gear (complete with smartwater).

Don't get me wrong, ever since My So Called Life, I've been a Claire fan, but what's with the gear? In my opinion, spandex is one of those things that must be approached with caution. Plus, since she was going for it, why not carry a proper gym bag too? Anyways, I am curious what you guys think about Claire's super sporty spandex look -- Is this something you'd wear to workout or otherwise?

I don't have spandex shorts, but I wouldn't mind wearing them. I don't really see the problem here. Is it because it's too tight? I think Claire looks good in them!
If I looked that in good in spandex, I'd wear it!
I would look like Shamu. Nobody wants to see that. Now if I had the body of Claire Danes, that's a different story.
I love wearing shorts like these for several reasons. One being that it shows off my hard-earned muscular legs - but seriously because when you do pilates or any other workout that involves you moving your legs around in *ahem* compromising positions there will be no flashing going on. They're comfy too and they look great. I love the way Claire looks in these photos. She looks like she can actually workout in those clothes!
she looks great- if i could pull them off, i would.
I put yes, because if I was built like that, I would. The shorts aren't too short and the top isn't low cut. It looks functional!
If I had her small legs, I would wear them everywhere! Even to church!
Spandex shorts are comfy and even more important, they also help against chafing and they aren't going to ride up when you are working out. I'm not the skinniest girl but I wear regular t-shirts vs. the form-fitting ones like she is wearing so that reduces my fright factor. I'm fully aware that spandex is one of those privileges rather than a right, but sometimes comfort wins out!
It's the gym! I would because that looks like something similar to what I would wear- a pair of shorts I could move in and a tee that I am not worried about sweating all over. Personally I don't care what I look like when working out as long as I am comfortable, I am not there to impress anyone and I am glad to see she isn't either.
I think she looks great! I wouldn't carry that fancy of a bag, but I would definitely wear the rest of the outfit.
I think she looks good in her clothes and she appears to be comfortable. And why does she need a gym bag? She clearly wore that clothes to the gym. If she wants to carry her wallet and phone in her regular purse, whats wrong with that?
She looks good. Who cares if they're spandex or not!
I don't see why not. I like to wear fitted stuff to the gym because it doesn't ride up. I am also a fan of wicking materials too because I am a heavy sweater.
i'd rather rock the spandex in piyo than give some people a peek down my shorts!!!
She looks fantastic. I can't see any reason not to like the way she looks and if I were so blessed, I'd be rockin it, too.
Proper gym bag?? I never carry one. I don't have time to switch out my things in my regular bag... Yikes, didn't realize it was a big deal!
I love them. Perfect for a number of different exercises.
She has a great body and looks dynamite! Go Claire!
what's the big deal? I wear them and so do plenty of people. I agree with the other person it does make my legs look more muscular - and I can use all the help I can get.
I'm stuck on figuring out what's so bad about this outfit here.
It looks like a perfectly normal gym outfit, I usually wear something like that, with ballet tights to ballet too!
For some reason, I am always self-conscious in spandex shorts- I'd rather wear a bikini. Although, the Nike running leggings I just bought are so comfy (actually pretty cute too) that I might consider wearing them in public.
I'm way too self-conscious!! No spandex for me!
i probably wouldn't wear it... she looks great....
Seriously, if i could look that good in spandex shorts, i'd wear it...
Unless she was working out in it, I have no problem with the spandex. Spandex is fine for fitness...but only for fitness, since it might look dorky otherwise!
If I had her body...no, I still wouldn't wear it.
i only workout in spandex shorts!! but they are sooo practical. i pole vault and i don't want to worry about people seeing up my shorts or anything when i'm upside down, stretching, etc. plus, they're SO COMFY!
She probably lives around the corner from her gym (looks like she's in Soho) and doesn't need a "proper gym bag". Whatever that means. She looks cute and fit. What more could you want?
Looks fine to me! I wear spandex capris for my workouts - comfy, not too revealing.
I don't know if everyone would feel comfortable in that outfit, but it looks very practical for working out. I hate big baggy clothing that impedes my movement. Spandex is great because it stretches with you and doesn't pinch anywhere.
Spandex shorts are so comfortable and flattering! She looks great.
I wouldn't wear it but I see no problem with her wearing it. She looks comfortable.
Cute! It looks like she's comfy wearing it, so it must be nice.
i also don't see it as a problem for her, even though i wouldn't wear those shorts
i wear spandex a lot to run b/c if I don't i start to itch (hard to explain but i have allergic reactions to cardio)... and i LOVE the bag! go Claire!
She can totally pull these off!
like many others said, i would wear this if I looked like ms. danes!
I don't mind the gym outfit, I am often seen in a similar getup. What I DO mind is the fact she's not wearing a bra! What's up with that?
isn't smart water not actually that good for you or something?
i would, i think its great
I would, IF i could pull it off, lol!
It doesn't even look like she is wearing a bra!
Beautiful Gorgeous lady.
I AM A MALE I WEAR SPANDEX ALL THE TIME I SEE NOTHING WITH IT BUT IF YOUR FAT THEN SHOULD NOT WEAR THEM
