Weekends are cleaning time at my house, and I have been on the hunt for alternative cleaning products. Specifically ones that don't contain ammonia or bleach. Flipping through the pages of Body+Soul, I found directions for a homemade all purpose scrub. It worked wonders on my sinks and tub!

What you need:
½ cup baking soda
Plant-based liquid soap (like Castille soap)
½ lemon
To see what you do, just read more
What you do:
- Pour baking soda into a bowl.
- Add just enough liquid soap to make a creamy paste.
- Spread mixture on the flat side of the lemon and scrub to your heart's content - the lemon acts as a sponge and leaves a natural citrus scent.
- Use a damp rag or sponge to wipe away any residue. You'll find the paste will stay moist for a few hours allowing you to scrub for hours if you want!
Fit's Tip: I like to use Dr. Bronner's liquid soap! The peppermint soap is great.

This is so great Fit! Will you be making this a feature? I love all these natural cleaning tips!
this one is hard though - i love lemons so much! i'd want to just eat them rather then clean with them.
Here are a few posts I have made over at my group Minimal Harm for a few more recipes:

I agree with tdanji- a regular feauture on green cleaning would be great. This is an awesome tip that I will definitely try.
2Dr. Bronner's Peppermint soap actually deters a lot of creepy crawlies, I regularly use it to mop my floors! I use baking soda to scrub the shower. Borax is another good green cleaning thing to have around, they sell it at Target. Vinegar and lemon juice will round out your green cleaning supplies!
3great post FitSugar! & I definitely agree with tdamji, it would make a great feature.
vinegar is also great as a laundry rinse and floor cleaner (we mix with water to mop our bamboo floors and it works wonders). olive oil is good for polishing/sealing wood furniture, bamboo cutting boards, etc. i put eucalyptus essential oil in a diffuser every month to cleanse the air... especially during flu season.
4Right on! What a great idea! And I love the Doctor B's....Dilute, Dilute, okay?!!?
5i love this - and all the other ideas. Can't wait to try them!
6I've done this and it works great. I used Dr. Bronner's Almond scented and it smells great with the lemon.
