Gwen Stefani is no stranger to being in the limelight, which means she is also no stranger to having her weight constantly being dissected by the media (especially after giving birth to her adorable son Kingston).
I've always thought she was one of the more 'fit' celebrities and it turns out that she, like everyone of us, has to work to get that bod. Here's more:
On feeling neurotic and keeping in shape:
"I try not to be but I'm super-neurotic about diet. I'm neurotic about trying not to be neurotic! I'm like every other girl. I have to try really hard my whole life to try to be fit. And I'm super-vain. And I want to wear cute clothes. You know, I was chubby when I was a little girl. And I have all those issues everyone else has. But I try not to. And I've learnt over the years that it's such a waste of time. And people like me whether I'm a little bit fatter or not."
I like the way you're thinking Gwen, I do. However, I'll believe chubby when I see it.

YAY for celebs that are not obsessed/consumed about their weight!
1Gwen, when Spiderwebs came out, was a normal-sized girl, with a slight tummy bulge, which was charming. She looked great, I wanted to be her!!! Then, after another album and then her solo effort, she started getting uber-fit. She flattened her stomach, her neck muscles stood out, her face started looking drawn and sharp like Madonna's, and I thought she looked bad. So sad.
2I've always heard that she is very obsessed with her weight and will literally starve herself to lose a pound. But I probably read that in a magazine, so who knows if it's true? I liked her better around Spiderwebs time too, and I remember wanting to be her as well! She looked so strong.
3Gwen is still obsessed with her weight. She eats organic everything and as soon as she had her son she had a trainer and worked out like mad.
4Yes I do recall reading that she said she's "been on a diet" for her entire life. But I did read the full-length story from the link and am happy that she is breastfeeding her son--that's a great habit to model for other women!
5She has a great, strong-looking body. I hope it's as healthy as it appears!
6She looks great...now I just need to look that good and I'll be set
7i remember her saying something along the lines of 'whatever goes in must be burned off' or something like that. im guessing she's exercise-bulimic
8I think I get what she means. I can obsess sometimes, but I'm really trying no to do it anymore.
At least she's more honest about her weight issues, unlike the celebs who get scrawny and then tell people all they did was quit eating french fries (such as Hilary Duff, who later admitted in Self that she was only eating protein and vegetables to lose weight).
9"Gwen is still obsessed with her weight. She eats organic everything "
10Nothing wrong with that.It is wrong not to eat,but it is great to eat organic food, which is the healthiest food ever.
I wish she hadn't gotten that boob job. I'm convinced it was a boob job. But otherwise love me my OC homegirl.
11Is this is an old interview? Cause I KNOW I've heard her say this before, at least 3 times before.
I can't imagine what Gavin has to deal with. "Am I fat?" "No hunny you're lovely the way you are." "Omg, what do you mean by lovely??! You think I'm fat!" Gavin sighs.
12In today's world, there is so much pressure to be thin and fashionable and put together. How can a girl escape that? I worry but really try to focus on enjoying the exercise I do and eating a balanced diet to feel good. Doesn't always work but ... at least Gwen is right about your loved ones digging you no matter what size.
13She looks great!
14just look at pictures of her over the years. her weight does fluctuate (sp?). in her pre-solo album days she would go from totally flat stomach, to a bit of a bulge, to a flat stomach again. nothing drastic like jessica simpson or janet jackson, but enough that you could tell that she does struggle with it.
15I know Kelly.
16Actually, paperkid, there was TWO No Doubt albums after TK (Return of Saturn and Rock Steady). Also, during Spiderwebs she was quite thin... if you watch the Don't Speak video, she has a bit more weight on her - and if you see pictures of her from when she was a teen you will see she was heavier... there's a picture of her getting Sting's autograph and I think it's the heaviest I've seen her. She also gained a bit of weight around the Return of Saturn era, and during Rock Steady was a big heavier (but still SO fit)... her thinnest was around the time they found out Gavin was the father of a teenage girl who he had been godfather to. She says because of the stress. But she looks great now!
17Camarogirl67, I hate to believe it too, but I think she did get a boob job - even when she WASN'T at her thinnest she was flat as a boat - now, even before Kingston was born, she has huge boobs?
Sad but true (I think)
18I mean board, not boat... lol
19I can actually stand to look at Gwen, other celebrities annoy me like crazy.
She used to look good in her No Doubt days and now she's gone too far to the extreme. She's a mother and a wife, she deserves to have a few curves. I wish she would accumulate some so that I can idolize her properly.
=P
20Why does everyone think she looks so scary thin? I think she looks totally healthy... if you saw her in person you might realize that she is a very small person naturally... and she is well porportioned.
21fluffyhelen, your comments go to show how hard it is to be in the public eye - you can't please everyone. you say she's too thin (which she's not) while, if she gained half a pound, other people would be literally calling her fat... what the f*ck is wrong with people?!
22Yeah, I think women should be full and curvy. She'd look better if she was - like in the old days.
I certainly wouldn't call her fat if she gained a pound. =) That would be bizarre.
23Gwen has a great bod, and it shows she's worked for it and didn't have to starve herself.
24i love gwen! i totally know how she feels.
25i read somewhere that she's been dieting
since she was in sixth grade! i like being
fit, but i have the same problem. can you
get addicted to working out and dieting?
when is it too much?
