We all know that the best way to a flat belly is by burning calories and fat through cardio. Bloating on the other hand, is its own beast and nothing kills a day at the beach than feeling super bloated.
Luckily there are easy ways to reduce bloating so that you can show-off that tummy you've been working so hard to get. Check out my top five ways to reduce bloating for bikini season:
- Stay away from salt. Too much sodium is not only bad for your heart, but will cause you to retain water and feel bloated.
- Drink Water. Being dehydrated is a sure way to cause you to retain water, so be sure you drink enough water to keep your body hydrated.
- Limit gassy foods. Some foods (such as lentils, artichokes, wheat bran, carbonated drinks, and more) create more gases in your body than others so you may want to limit them if you're about to suit up.
There are two more so read more.
- Eat Fiber. Fiber helps everything move through the intestines more quickly, which prevents constipation and bloating. If you're not accustomed to eating enough fiber then slowly add more and more fiber to your diet, or you'll feel even more bloated than before. Also make sure to drink plenty of water with all the fiber.
- Eat slower. One small cause of bloating could be that you're swallowing too much air when you're scarfing down your meals too quickly — this is why some of us get the hiccups when eating too quickly. So slow down when you eat and remember what mom said: close your mouth when you chew.
Do you have any sure ways to prevent bloating? I'd love to hear your tips so share them below.

Mishumo

2Wasn't aware of the lentils. Thanks.
3I definitely need to learn to eat more slowly and chew my food all the way!
4Good tips.

6Great (and easy) tips
7I have to avoid raw grapes. Grapes make me bloat worse than any other food. I LOVE them, too, but I have to be careful to only eat a few if my appearance matters.
About a year ago, we went on a little weekend trip, and I put on my swimsuit but was more bloated than I had ever been - I looked several months pregnant. I never could figure out why, and it always bothered me. It was gross.
8I keep an eye on my food-related bloating via my ring finger. I think that has been one of the bigger benefits of consistently wearing a ring now.
9I really need to work on slowing down my eating rate! Not just for this reason, but also to savor my food and let the body process the feeling of fullness in a good amount of time.
10Yeah, once i ate an entire bag of edamame at work, which has a ton of fiber, and i looked pregnant all day. Luckily I was wearing a loose shirt.
11agh! bikini season.
12I will try to eat slower.
13So, just a question, when you click on the foods that you're supposed to avoid if trying to appear to have a flatter tummy, what on earth are you supposed to eat/drink? Literally everything is off limits!!
14THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!!
I have never been more happy to see a post.
My problem is that it looks like I have a little baby bump and I´m not a big girl - I don´t really want to loose weight, so this is fantastic!
15Drinking Coffee and Green Tea helps my system flow..
16I always look pregnant from bloating, it's so annoying!
17ack! I am not ready for bikini season yet!
18My stomach has been so bloated lately and I can't figure out why. I'm starting to think its the kombucha b/c I didn't used to drink anything carbonated before that.
19This is a constant problem for me. Drinking Yogi "Detox" Tea helps.
20DIGESTIVE ENZYMES! just take two at the beginning of a meal. no gas/bloating
21If I do a lot of walking during the day, any bloating is limited.
22I used to have such a major problem with this, I would get so bloated that I looked preggers and was in actual pain! I finally went to the doctor and she told me it sounded like IBS. I take Digestive Advantage for IBS now and hardly ever have problems. Now the only times I do is when I have something high in sodium, like those Blue Goose fajitas last week
23I looove beans & lentils & peas ! Crap !
24I only get really bloated in the week before my period. Then it can be realllly bad, but there's not usually much I can do. Hormones suck.
25good tips!
26I think chewing sugar free gum should be mentioned because that is why I am bloated all the time! ha ha!
27Good tips!
28And you don't have to change a lot in your habits ;D !
Thanks for your posting about the grapes. It took me a bit of experimenting but pretty much as soon as I eat them I blow up like violet from willy wonka and the chocolate factory! It got so uncomfortable and just too much. I had read other articles and some of them had said grapes wouldn't really create any gas so I was worried I had some odd allergy I didn't know about. So I'm glad, as great as grapes are, that you have this reaction to them as well, phew!
