I love, love, love yogurt. However, sometimes I get sick of the generic flavors (and price) of the store bought kind. Especially since it's nearly impossible to find good, tasty yogurt without a ton of sugar and with all the recalls these days, you never know what's under the lid of that little yogurt cup.

So for obvious reasons, you know I am loving this Yogurt Maker ($39.95) from Williams-Sonoma. This nifty product supposedly produces creamy, all-natural yogurt in six to ten hours (overnight perhaps). To use, simply prepare milk and yogurt starter mixture (formula of freeze-dried cultures), pour into the glass jars, set the timer and flip the switch. While it comes with a recipe book, I am sure you can come up with your own great and healthy yogurts -- Possibly even with real chunks of fruit not soaked in high fructose corn syrup? Oh you steal my foolish heart Williams-Sonoma!
Buy it directly from Williams-Sonoma.com and say sayonara to sugary processed fruit on the bottom yogurts.

Wow. This is pretty cool.
1I am very interested in learning more about this yogurt maker.
2Something I have never thought about making myself but how cool, maybe I should!
3This is really cool looking, never seen anything like it.
4Its actually pretty easy to make yogurt without a machine but this still looks neat. I just wonder about the cost of additional starter for the yogurt.
5Although it sounds great, I am much too lazy to do this. I would rather just pick up an eight-pack of Activa and be on my way!
6Sweet and only 40 bucks!
7I love making my own yogurt! There is just something about picking up food at a grocery store and not knowing how old it is or where its been - it's kinda scary! I have a Cuisipro Donvier Electronic Yogurt Maker, it comes with a thermometer and everything.
And discocactus, yogurt starter doesn't cost much at all, around $4.00, and that covers 6 or 8 batches if I recall correctly. So it isn't too bad. If you would rather not by starter, you can buy a small thing of plain yogurt at the store and stir a spoonful or so of that into your batch just like you would the starter. That works too, you just need some active cultures in there.
8MUST! BUY! THIS!!! I LOVE yogurt and buy it all the time. Cascade fresh is the best with no HFCS, but does add up the $$$ over time.
9so goodd
10Interesting, I wonder if it works?
Someone just came out with a great flavor - cherry pomegranate. I like it, otherwise I'm bored by most yogurt flavors, too.
11I used to make yogurt in the Salton yogurt maker for my daughters, so I feel certain that the Williams-Sonoma one will do the trick.
12I wonder if it works with soy milk...
13wow, i didn't even know this machine existed! sounds amazing!
14I remember back in the day my mother making us yogurt in something similar to this (it was harvest gold). the yogurt it made was good, she mixed it with maple syrup that we made, or homemade strawberry jam. She just used yogurt from the store as a starter and kept some from each batch to make more.
15I also saw Martha Stewart make it on her show one day, here is the link to the recipe on her website. I think the machine looks a bit easier and tidier.

I own a yogurt maker and I LOVE it. I just buy a tiny container of Nancy's plain yogurt to use as a starter and it works perfectly.
I only eat non-fat, plain, organic yogurt to begin with- so it's even better that I can make my own. It's amazing with some fresh raspberries and granola thrown in there too! MMM!
