Last night on Shaq's Big Challenge we finally got to see the kids after all their hard work and for most of them, it really paid off.

Did you guys watch the finale? Chris (pictured before and after above), the child who lost the most weight, was truly inspiring. He looked so much healthier -- I only wish that his parents, who are obese as well, would have joined him in his health endeavors. ABC asked him what the hardest part of the program was and he replied:
"Getting into a habit of working out. I never used to do that. I would never do exercise all in a row. I would just run around outside. I didn't know how to exercise."
Incredibly wise, I must say. He speaks the truth not just for kids, but for adults as well, one of the hardest parts is getting into the habit. Once you cross that hurdle, it becomes something that is a part of who you are.

Unfortunately I could not find any "after" pictures, but I will continue to scour the internet for them. Overall, the show was successful, I do wish they offered more tips for obese children but I do think that the message was loud and clear. It will be interesting to see if the Governor of Florida keeps to his decision to make PE in schools mandatory for kids K-5. What'd you think of it? wow!i really wish we could see all of the after pictures, too bad you couldn't find them.
that
goes to show what excercising and eating healthy can really do for a person.
1I'm glad they are doing a show like this for kids. Kids should enjoy a healthy childhood! I wish I did. Good for them!
2I just saw the episode online and wow those kids have gone far. They definitely need to make this program a nationwide program. Lets help the kids and the kids can be an example to even their parents if they are obese.
3I think that this is what every school should have...look how happy and healthy he looks.
4I caught the episode last night and am sad that I missed the others. I felt inspired by the kids. I hope Florida follows through!
5I love this show! I am glad Shaq is using his fame for something positive! I love when celebs do that.

7I'm so impressed that Shaq did this show. Change NEEDS to happen. I feel so sorry for these kids. It kills me that the parents of these kids let this happen.
8I have never been a huge Shaq fan, but what he did here was wonderful. Maybe my dislike of him is just in the basketball arena, but I am glad that someone with the means to do something like this and use his connections and status for postive is actually doing it. I'm sure he's getting publicity for this and getting paid for the show, but I still think a lot of other athletes and celebrities could follow his example of using his name to make an impact.
9I have been a HUGE fan of this show. After watching the show, I don't think he (Shaq) was about the publicity, not that it hurt. Around the kids he really did seem to feel their pain. He totally wanted the best for them. I also loved the glasses makeover that the kids who wore glasses got!
10WOW! I saw the finale (the only one I had seen), and they showed before and after footage of these kids-- the improvement was astronomical! Chris, featured here with before and after pictures, looks like a completely different kid! Look how healthy he looks! Good for him! Good for them! Now if only we can get the entire country involved...
11I was happy for the kids. To me, Chris looks too skinny!
12I missed the finale but have seen other episodes and I am glad to see the kids stuck with it and look how it paid off! Hopefully they can be an inspiration and spring board for other children.
13This is really great, and I wish I could get my brothers to stick to a program too, but I live in a different state now and my parents don't encourage healthy eating habits. Hopefully all of them will get on the ball soon.
14I hope the parents help these amazing kids stick with it. Otherwise, it will never last through Christmas!
15*whoo* congrats to the kids.. i've been watching the show from the beginning, and i'm so proud of them, 'specially that chris.. he made some major changes and stuck to it, and that's just amazing... i'm glad that they're so much healthier, and hope other children will be inspired.
16After that final episode, i was so happy/teary/energized. i loved it!!!
