Gatorade has done a fine job of marketing themselves as the sport drink. After all, it saved the Florida Gators from getting crushed under that hot Floridian summer, now didn't it? However, this sport drink is known to be extremely high in calories and sugar, which makes most of us shy away from it.
And as consumers gained insight and started reading nutrition labels, Gatorade's sales dropped dramatically -- Clearly there is a movement towards no- and low-calorie beverages, both of which Gatorade is not. In light of all this, PepsiCo, the maker of Gatorade, announced recently that it would introduce a lower-calorie version later in the year for athletes when they are not breaking a sweat.
I commend PepsiCo for finally realizing that people are not buying into their product for anything other than the taste, but doesn't this say something about the original formula?
So what do you guys think...

Sloggi
Kookai
Emilio Pucci
I'd buy it, I like Gatorade, but not the calories
1well thats cool if just want a energy drink to give a boost but Gatorade is pretty much just for athletes! like if a person is running in a track meet they need the salt in Gatorade to keep up their sodium content or they will pass-out so if u r working out and drinking Gatorade it is fine because u need that salt.
2its so unnatural! both Gatorade and diet Gatorade! try coconut water!
3Yea, thats why I don't drink those sports drinks...way too much sugar, which is beneficial after a great workout, but to drink just to drink...not good to have all that sugar. So, yes, I would try a diet gatorade!
4If I worked out like Serena Williams, I'd drink Gatorade. But, being me, I drink water.
5I think that's a Great Idea! I always want something besides water to drink during kickboxing class, but I also don't want to feel like I'm counteracting what I'm doing there in class witha calorie loaded drink! I'll be buying this for sure!
6i would buy it!
7If you working outside or working out outside for an extended time in blistering heat, Gatorade is a godsend. Also, if you are pretty hungover, Gatorade can help you feel better. Otherwise, drink water! Less sugar, calories and no artificial ingredients. (Gatorade has artificial coloring in it, bad!).
8no diet either, that's so unnecessary considering studies have show that drinking diet beverages does not lead to weight loss!
9I'm sure they are just replacing the sugar with artificial sugars which are nothing more than awful chemicals. Better to have the real thing. Instead, I add electrolites to my water or buy smart water if I am calorie conscious. Otherwise, i stick to REGULAR gatorade. Powerade uses high fructose corn syrup....yuck!
10I do Bikram Yoga...in which case I sweat ALOT, so I need the electrolytes to rebalance my system. I usually buy this powder stuff with electrolytes cuz Gatorade has way too much sugar. I think I'll try the low cal version when it comes out.
111 packet of lemonade crystal light
1 packet of energy crystal light
32 oz of water
Low calorie drink for a workout. I drink this everyday and it gets me through my 90 minutes of cardio
12Gatorade is great when you're a little hungover. But I always hated that it was so many calories but hopefully the diet Gatorade will have the same therapeutic effects.
13yesss stacey cakes!! gatorade has helped me through many a bad-hangover!! it's like magic!
14I nlove gatorade but the calories are what have stopped me from drinking it.
15As someone who hikes a lot, I appreciate the fact that gatorade does have calories and sugar. (If I am not hiking, I'll drink regular water or Propel). If I am sweating and out in the heat of the day, if I drink only water it doesn't completely hydrate me. Usually, I'll drink between one and two Nalgene bottles of water and my husband and I will share a gatorade if I am doing more than 4 to 5 hours of hiking, depending on the weather.
My husband actually went on a trip through the canyons in Utah when he was in high school, and a kid had major dehydration. He was hallucinating, etc. They kept giving him water, and it didn't help. The paramedics that came in by helicopter to retrieve the poor kid said that if they had given him some candy, he would have gotten better. Something about the water he was drinking not absorbing into his system without sugar.
16Gatorade is only good for a hangover! lol! I try to stick with water all day/night/workouts and one cup of coffee in the morning during the week.
17Those sweetners are SO BAD for our bodies especially the bladder. I'm sticking w/ water.
18I would love to see diet gatorade because I am a diabetic and have to control my blood sugar. Thanks!!
