Taking care of yourself, watching what you eat and exercising, you might be a little more sensitive about what you put on your body. While the myth that aluminum in deodorant causes breast cancer has been debunked, you might not feel comfortable with using antiperspirants that contain aluminum since they actually prevent you from sweating.
The aluminum in antiperspirants is drawn into the cells of your dermis (the middle layer of your skin), and it squeezes your sweat gland ducts closed, trapping sweat, preventing you from perspiring. It is not the sweat that creates odor, but the bacteria on your skin and the sweat combined. There are some important days when I can't avoid antiperspirants, but other days I like to just use deodorant. It seems more natural.
I have tried many aluminum-free deodorants and here are some that I have liked.
Is there an aluminum free deodorant out there that you like? Let me know in the comment section below.

I know Crystal is very popular, but I have tried it and it just does not keep me dry. Although it does a good job of keeping the stink away
1That's right - deodorants don't keep you dry - they let you sweat, but at least the sweat doesn't stink!
2I use the Adidas aluminum free deodorant, and I think it works REALLY well!
3It's not like anti-perspirants prevent you from regulating your body temperature- the rest of your body still sweats. Just because you're not sweating under your arms doesn't mean that anything bad is happening.
4I use the Thai Crystal Deodorant stick. I like it a lot. and I have always had a problem with sweating, and this helps keep me pretty dry all day at work.
5I didn't even know about this.
I am not entirely sure what I use - I just grab the same Lady Speed Stick off the shelf every time I run out. I will have to actually check this time around!
6I love the Crystal roll-on deoderant. I haven't used the actual crystal rock version that you only have to wet. But I will when my roll-on runs out.
I've tried Toms but it makes my arm pits burn. My skin is extremely sensitive and I stopped using it.
7I'm sure it has alluminum in it but i sweat, like a waterfall, and have started using secret clinical strength and it is PIT STAINS NO MORE!! woo hoo!
8I know the Crystal is not supposed to keep you dry, but I don't like walking around all day with wet armpit stains...little embarrassing. If the Crystal could somehow manage to keep you dry, I would be a big promoter. I'm still using it though (it lasts a long time, it was well worth the money spent)
9origins - 'no offense'
10I use Lush's Aromarant. Less chemical and it really works =)
11whats so terrible about not sweating in one small part of your body? the part that causes wet marks on your shirts, and makes you smell awful. I use Mitchum (yes the men's version). It is unscented, and has the maximum protection against sweating. It really works better than anything I have ever tried, plus I'd rather my armpits not smell like baby powder or "mystic rain"...
12I stopped using deodorant and antiperspirants years ago and I will never use them again. I don't have that stank "bacteria" thing going on.
13My pits smell better than when I used deodorant.
I refuse to go around without my antiperspirant/deodorant under my pits. I have backups in my desk drawer and gym bag, just in case. That's just the way I roll.
14i used to sweat a lot last year it was awful but i have a thing called drysol i wear it at night like 2 times a week and the rest of the day i put secret deodorant (the only one that keeps me clean)....
15sweating is good
16I can never seem to find the ladies adidas - also the toms of maine lemongrass smells really nice, but it always feel really slimy. I've heard myths about aluminum causing alzheimers and man my memory is bad enough as it, i don't need the help. Also, Bella told me about a stella mccartney deodorant that is fully organic, but I haven't had a chance to try it yet.
17ive been using the adidas aluminum free deodorant since last yr. nothing else compares.
18Hmm interesting! I've always been worried about stinky sweat, maybe I shouldn't worry so much anymore.
19Man, I never knew there was such fuss and commotion about the ah ah armpits - as in, wow!
