Oftentimes we look to the less than positive things about working out, which can drag us down. So today, take a moment to reflect on all the things you have to look forward to while working out and losing the extra pounds.
- Feeling great mentally and physically.
- Comparing new photographs to old photographs.
- Stepping on the scale.
- Comments such as, "Did you lose weight? You look great!"
- Shopping, shopping and more shopping!

Thanks for the positive outlooks. I have to remind myself daily of why it is that I work out. Of course, I also think "J. Crew Bikini" when I'm running on the treadmill, LOL
1How about running into your ex and being in better shape than you were in when you were dating!
2For me, it helps to focus on the long-term health benefits...because I truly see my daily workout as a lifestyle. Focusing on things like shopping or appearance can be fun, but they don't really do it for me because I know those things don't bring true happiness. The best outcome is really how you feel inside- energetic, fit, and positive about lifes challenges.
3Ooh these are all great insights! I have to get into the bikini mindset as well, as I'm headed to the beach soon, so I'll use that as my motivation.
4Love all the insight too. Great ponts sweet_potato!
LOVE that forlikeever.
5in 55 minutes I can sit on the couch and chill with a 40? oh wait, maybe that isn't what you meant
6adrenaline! i love the rush i get after a workout
7I agree with #1. I worked out daily for 2 weeks (Im slacking off this week, boo) and I felt confident going out and dressing up.
8Loving the ability to move!
Like James said, "Get up offa that thing, dance and you'll feel better!"
9Sleeping better, and having an easier time waking up in the morning is the best reward.
10The day I fit into my 'skinny jeans' will be the best reward ever!
11How about feeling sexier and more energy! More endorphins.
12These are great motivators!
13It's going to sound really weird, but I look forward to my bra size going down. Currently I'm a 32DD on a small, 120-lb 5'3" frame, and I absolutely hate it. So the more I run and work out, the smaller they get!!
14i'm seconds away to working out Fit and this got me evem more motivated. thanks.
15i love feeling strong and independent -- even though i'm married! i know i don't need my man to lift or carry anything for me, i can do it on my own!
16my motivations are short term but satisfying:
1) the hot relaxing shower I get to take once I am done.
2) the lunch i get to eat when I get back to the office.
Long term:
171) a whole new fall wardrobe.
2) being an absolutely fabulous bride.
3) world peace (i'm sure I can find a link somehow, no matter how attenuated).
If you're high-strung, like me, the ability to take a few minutes out for yourself and gain some clarity and focus! Of course, shopping for cute new clothes is always fun too =)
18forlikeever... that's my favorite motivator!
19How about people not recognizing you? That's SO awesome. And Clarient, you are so right! Smaller shoe size, too. Don't forget increased flexibility for whatever activity it may be used!
It's also nice to see that you have the ability to make change happen in your life! A bonus is setting a good example for the young humans in your life!
20Yeah,
21My son loves it when he can fit his arms around my waist.
He tells me mommy you look beautiful!!!!!!!
I love him!!!!!!
The shopping, shopping and more shopping is the best. Losing a little weight and looking better in clothes is a great feeling.
22I don't workout to lose weight since I'm like 100 lbs. But, I like tightening up my body. I like to walk on the grass uphill do I can build muscle in my butt. Flat shapless butts are so unattractive.
I have modivation pictures on my homepage that I look at. Taking a shower after going for an hour long sweaty run is the best feeling ever. I always eat a nice healthy dinner and fall asleep.
23Going to the mall and realizing that you're no longer that awful old size, but that you need to find a smaller size!! And I agree, when people don't recognize you! That is, I think the best of all
