I eat the Zone diet. I eat good complex carbohydrates, but avoid sugar, processed white foods like rice, pasta and bread.
I eat fruit and vegetables and those special breads like Vogel and Ezekiel and Sara Lee delightful when I want to pretend I'm eating brad that is bad for you.
I eat about 130g of carbs a day and 90 g of lean protein and fat too. If you don't eat carbs you get hungry! and you binge! I know I did Atkins for a couple of months, lost weight and gained
it back.
Now after the zone, I have sustained a loss of 30 lbs for over a year!
I can do Atkins forever. The food is great, and I'm never hungry. I'm vegan, and I can still do it with substitutes. It's good for people like me who need more protein. f*ck sugar. I love it,
but I hate what it has done to me, so I'm trying to get off of it, it's a drug. Sugar addiction runs in the family, but everyone has conquered it, except me. I will conquer it though. Atkins
is a bit challenging, but that keeps it from being boring, so I reccomend it. Good weight loss too.
My co-workers are always asking me that if I'm on diet then why do I still eat carbs, like they're forbidden. I admit too many are, but so is everything you eat out of moderation. I have
switched to 100% whole wheat grains, but I still eat bread, mostly in the morning after a 90 minute workout. I would never cut carbs out of my life.
I don't see how people think this diet can work. Many people stupidly eat way too many fatty meats, cheeses, and processed foods to satisfy their bread craving. All you have to do it eat
whole grains and fiber rich foods. I'm fine with cutting out refined sugars and bleached flour, but no carb diets are just idiotic.
I did atkins in high school for prom and graduation. I lost like, 20 pounds in a month. then i gained twice as much back.
75% of people who lose weight on ATkins diet gain their weight back, and in most cases, they gain back 2 or 3 times what they lost. Never again. besides, why deprive myself of something my
body wants if i can just watch my portions and eat it all anyway?
Yes, I tried that last year in college and fainted one day. I have super high metabolism and have to eat at least every 3 hours - by taking out carbs, my body went into shut down mode. Ugh,
I'm never doing that again!
i can't do it...i do realize i eat too many of the "bad" carbs like bread, pasta bagels etc. i love pasta so much...ill probably never burn any stomach fat! i don't eat meat so lots of times
i will make a pasta dish because i am not sure what else to eat. i love beans though so i try to eat those more. i guess i need to read the book i got on a healthy veg diet!
i don't see how cutting out all carbs forever can ever work. i eat a bran cereal in the morning but i still do not eat anything with white bread or lots of pasta. i'll have pasta maybe once a
month. i believe in moderation
A few years ago, my fiance wanted to try South Beach, and since I do all the cooking, I agreed to try it with him. Three years later, he is off South Beach but still limits his carb intake,
and has kept off 60 pounds. I stuck with it for 6 months, and GAINED 12 pounds, so I gave up. Maybe it is because I am a vegetarian and consumption of meat is important if you give up
carbohydrates? Who knows... I just wasn't going to stick with a diet that was making me fatter, especially when I have always been a healthy eater.
I did South Beach for 3 weeks before a wedding I was in because my bridesmaids dress was tight. It worked amazingly well and I was astonished by how easy it actually was. I eat carbs now
though because I dont think I could go my whole life without them.
My brain got really relaxed and I always felt faint. By the end my body was totally out of whack. Once I introduced carbs back into my diet it sent me to the emergency room. In fact, not to
be gross, but my digestive system is still not quite right. I was fine until I came up with this brilliant error in judgement.
It's all about whole grains. I still love sourdough bread, handmade ravioli, and croissants (although I found whole wheat ones at Whole Foods - de-lish!), but they are exceptions to my whole
grains rule.
Low & no carb diets are just silly. Carbohydrates are the body's main source of fuel.
I did Atkins and got wonderfully skinny and healthy I went off of it then I've been doing the South Beach Diet I feel so energized and healthy Plus my skin looks so good I don't think NO carb
diets are good though Low or just healthy carbs are best South Beach has been great for me No counting and more variety
I'm a picky vegetarian who can't eat soy. I'm trying to become less picky, not moreso. Overall, I make good choices with whole grains, etc but there's room for everything. I see no need to
cut anything out overall.
I could live off bread and water. I LOVE bread and will enver give it up. My body needs carbs to function. I'm sure I'd lose more weight if I laid off the bread for a while, but I'd rather be
happy then 3 lbs lighter It's a fine line!
I did Atkins for 2 years, and lost 50lbs (going from 175 to 125). I eat carbs now, but I've still kept the weight off with exercise and portion control.
y favorie diet when I'm in training mode...High High Protein and NO carbs other than romaine lettuce, Asian Pears and Cameo Apples. Boots strength, removes excess water retention through
salts and cuts you down so you are nice and lean and all those sexy muscles show through.
did anyone else get super grumpy when they were on atkins? i almost killed everyone around me. i try to do a low-carb diet, and am cutting out a lot of sugar. i don't think it's healthy to
completely cut them out. and i also did it to squeeze into a bridesmaids dress. 2 weeks and i was at my goal. but the weight didn't stay off.
I did Atkins the wrong way when I was 19. By the wrong way I mean I ate meat 24/7 for 6 months. Everyday I felt like I'd been dipped in grease. I did lose 30lbs in 2 months amazingly. It
eventually came back and I had to start eating sensibly.
I don't diet, I eat healthy. I try to eat moderate amounts of Carbs, Protein and Non-Saturated Fat. There was a period of time when I didn't even notice and ate very little carbs but it very
quickly affected my health - I was a mess! weak and irritated. There's a reason we need carbs - ENERGY for our BRAINS and BODIES. whoever tells you carbs are the enemy, seriously does not
know what they're talking about.
I try and "wisely monitor" my carbs, though I do eat plenty of them. I'll try and always choose a carb that has more fiber or is made of whole wheat rather than a white flour or starch.
I've tried Atkins and South Beach before. Atkins was ruthless...I was sooo angry and always felt like I was going to pass out while trying to workout (I actually did, once!). After both
times, I did lose a good amount of weight very quickly, but I gained it all back and more! In my college nutrition course, we learned that by doing a no carb diet you do not lose much body
fat. You actually lose more muscle mass and b/c it weighs more; you lose more weight. So when you get off it, you gain more fat than you had previously. I was shocked and have never gone that
route again. GO for moderation, whole grains, and burn more than you consume!
I don't limit carbs, but I do monitor what kind of carbs I'm eating. I try to avoid potatoes, white bread, and plain pasta. I choose whole wheat bread and pasta when I can. Not only does this
keep my weight in check, but I feel better too. I feel sick and bloated if I have a bagel or something like that.
I tried Atkins once and it SO didn't work for me. My digestion messed up, I got all bloated and I was too tired to workout. Plus I only lost 2 pounds in 8 weeks. Not worth it.
I made it through phase 1 of the South Beach diet (2 weeks). Lost a ton of weight, but by the start of phase 2 I was so carb starved and craving sugar I went nuts and gained everything back.
my body's all backwards. it burns fat quickly and fast-tracks carbs to fat, so i have to eat carbs in moderation. i don't eat any processed foods, and keep rice, pastas, and breads to a
minimum, and only if whole-grained. no refined sugars either, and severe limits on sugar in general. i wind up spending more money for fresh meats, fruits and veggies, but the difference it
made for my body and energy levels has been enormous.
atkins often gets a bad rap because everyone only focuses on the first phase of the diet, induction, and too many people do it completely wrong by thinking it's a good thing to eat a pound of
bacon as a meal. the other three phases have you slowly introducing more carbs until you find your sustainable level. it's all in the book....
I'm not purposefully avoiding carbs, but I try to eat as healthy as possible and that just doesn't include the eating of a lot of carbs for me. Its mostly fruit, veggies and lean protein.
i remember when Atkins was THE thing to do and in my yoga classes you could always tell who was on it because when they were sweating they smelled like meat! no joke. it was sick.
the only type of monitoring i do is my calories and making sure i get 5-7 fruits and veggie servings a day while moderately exercising. that alone helped me lose 20 pounds. no diet pills or
wackjob diets. just good ole exercise and good eating habits!
I adore carbs and I hate meat. Any kind of diet like that would make me feel miserable and deprived. I'm an old-fashioned calorie counter. It works for me and I feel healthy and satisfied.
i'm about to start the south beach diet next week and i'm a wee bit nervous, because i am a total carb freak. however, i do love whole grains, so it wouldn't be a bad thing to cut out all the
overprocessed white carbs, right? i'm trying to get myself psyched and to think of it as getting healthy and improving my cardiovascular health, but i'm still nervous. also, i can't cook and
that may pose a problem. we'll see.
well maybe i would dop it cos i do wana lose some weight, however it wont work in the long run cos u have to eat carbvs some day!? thats the thing if it wont work forever why do it in the
first place? and anyway carbs are good for u its not bread that makes you fat, its the spreads and other fatty fillings you put on them, have a slice not a loaf and you will be fineee hehe
with excercise of course

7Depriving yourself of bread is painful. It definitely works but wow you have to be determined
8Yes, I tried that last year in college and fainted one day. I have super high metabolism and have to eat at least every 3 hours - by taking out carbs, my body went into shut down mode. Ugh, I'm never doing that again!

13I gave up carbs for Lent and it almost killed me. (http://teamsugar.com/user/LaLa0428/blog/145963)

So, low carb, don't no carb thats my advice!!!!!

18I still eat carbs, just not a lot. Moderation, people!
That and I can't live without french bread and pasta!
19i make sure that i eat the whole grain version of my favorite carbs.
20Never will i not eat bread or pasta, life is to short to deprive myself of good food.Cut back and work out ,you'll see a weightloss diffrence.
21i can't do without carbs. grew up eating rice with almost every meal (I'm Asian). and i love bread too much. i'm a big believer of moderation.
22The South Beach taught me to love whole wheat bread and pasta.
23i run too much to give up the energy carbs give you
24I love bread!!!!! lol
25Yes I did it and I lost a lot of weight but it came back on when I started to eat regularly again. I just couldn't keep it up.
