I told you guys about my favorite cooling foods to beat the heat that also double as tasty healthy snacks during the hot months of summer. A lot of us have our standard healthy treat (red ants on a log anyone?) that we turn to when we're feeling like a healthy summer snack and I am wondering what yours is. Speak up and share your summer snack ideas in the comments section below. I can't wait to see all your ideas so I can add a few to my repertoire.

Frozen fruit! I currently have frozen blueberries, raspberries, pineapple, mango and banana in my freezer. I usually have grapes too, each one tastes like a little slushie!
1Frozen grapes!
2Orange and yellow peppers with spinach dip...mmm....
I also second ants on a log!
Plain cherries, nothing fancy, just rinsed black cherries are so refreshing and tasty!
3I love cantaloupe, set out a room temperature so it's super juicy. And I love to drink plain tonic water with lemon & lime wedges. Soooo refreshing. Literally makes me say "Ahhhhhhh!"
4Cherry tomatoes. I eat about a pint of them a day! Deeeeelightful. I'm also currently giving myself stomach aches on Ranier Cherries. Their season is so short that I just eat them until I'm about to pop, and keep that up for the short time they're harvested.
5Fresh garden tomatoes, kiwi, strawberries, blueberries, pretty much any fresh fruit and of course, healthy smoothies!
6Fruit! I love fresh cantaloupe, watermelon and honeydew. But my current obsession is plums... lots of fresh plums!
7Watermelon! There's nothing better than going out to my cottage, spending the day on the lake, and coming in to a nice cold slice of watermelon!
8Frozen grapes, iced green tea, salted watermelon and I LOVE to take rhubarb and nuke it with some blueberries, honey and lemon juice in a bowl. Like pie without the crust!!
9Yum....watermelon and cantaloupe...oh and grapes!!!! So yummy and refreshing on a hot summer day!
10Super sweet tiny cherry tomatoes and I also love Lemon sorbet with fresh fruit and a couple crumbled up vanilla merangue cookies.
11MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM....Yummy!!
Fruit of any variety (although berries and nectaries define summer for me), cucumber slices, grape tomatoes, etc.
12watermelon...mmm
13mmmmm..
14cherries,frozen yogurt, cereal, apples, and practically any other type of fruit like strawberries and blueberries.
fruit...i live on fruit...no joke
15i'm on a special low-sugar diet so i can't enjoy the wonderful summer treat of fresh fruit... however, i still have lots of great healthy snacks! dry-roasted pumpkin seeds are delicious, satisfying, and always fill me up if i'm feeling ravenous between meals. i also love sesame rice crackers with hummus or a rice cake with almond butter. mmm!
16Ooh, Ill second the grape tomatoes. I eat them by the handful. I also forgot about a new indulgence, when I come in the door from working out, all hot and sweaty, I reach for frozen asparagus spears. Sounds weird, but I swear they are good and cool me down so quick.
17Frozen grapes
18Yogurt & fruit shakes
Steamed apples
Saturn Peaches!!! They taste so sweet and delicious, I feel as if I shouldn't be eating them.
19Fresh apricots and ice cold watermelon
20frozen grapes and vegetables and hummus
21Haha everyone said fruit.
I'm eating papaya right now,
actually.
It is true though, I just love fresh fruit (not frozen . . . never) and you couldn't get it any fresher than at my grandmother's house. Every summer when I visited her we would go up into the moutains and pick mangoes, mandarins, bananas, and more. There was nothing better than sitting down to eat the perfect mango after an afternoon hand picking it yourself. There were also trees nearer to the house, and I remember my grandmother would ask me if I wanted orange juice, then she would reach out the kitchen window, pick an orange, and make me the most excellent juice ever. Don't even get me started on her frappe lemon/limeaids! Whenever I have "fresh" juice in the US it just doesn't compare. The juice might be fresh squeezed, but the fruit isn't fresh picked, and you can always tell. I also love eating pineapple, watermelon, passion fruit, and lulo (naranjilla), although we didn't grow our own.
So that's something I look forward to every summer
as for something besides fruit. . . . what are those flavoured crushed ice things called?
22SMOOTHIES!!
23apples and peanut butter
24I'm Mexican and my favorite snack is a commonly found street food in Mexico that I absolutely love in the summer. It's spears of cucumber, mango, watermelon (and sometimes jicama and/or pineapple) sprinkled with lime juice, ancho chile powder (mild), and a little salt. The sweet-sour-crunchy refreshing combo SO hits the spot!
25Just like everyone else...fruit!!! Mango, watermelon, and cherries! Yummmmmy in the summer!
26coconut juice.
27Fruit - me too
All kinds! I go to the farmer's market twice a week. I'm a big fan of
fruit salads (since I cant eat them anywhere w/ out worrying about my hand being dirty. I'm eating one right now
(blueberries, strawberries, a nectarine, a few raisins and some flax seed on top)
28Watermelon, strawberries, and mango milkshakes !
29frozen bananas are my favorite...and ice cream is good no matter what the season
cantaloupe and watermelon are also tasty, and definitely italian ices (peanut butter, pistachio, blueberry, rum raisin) from the corona ice king in queens, ny
30cherries- so delish and best during the summer!
31Fruit smoothies, baked tortilla chips w/ salsa or hummus and mango sorbet
32mango
*nectarines*! It's officially summer when the nectarines are nice and juicy!
grape tomatoes
oooh, Powerpuff, I like the jicama/lemon/chile treatment too!
33And watermelon w/ a little lemon and salt?
