Eating spicy foods, green peppers, broccoli, beans, meat, dairy products, high fiber cereal, and apples are a few common foods that can result in gas for some people. I'm sure you know exactly what kinds of foods cause your tummy to gurgle and become bloated. So tell me . . .

if I know I have to be somewhere/do something where I need to be more, uh, streamlined than usual I try to avoid certain things but the rest of the time I just go full steam(ed broccoli) ahead.
No, I don't avoid any foods that give me gas. Really the only thing that does give me gas is cabbage/sauerkraut. And if I eat it, I take an activated charcoal cap with it, so no worries.
I just figured out I'm lactose intolerant!!!
GAS-X REALLY DOES WORK!
sham28, as a fellow sufferer of lactose intolerance, I feel your pain. Words of advice - stock up on Lactaid caplets (or the Costco brand - much cheaper), GasX and Imodium +anti gas. I keep Lactaid on me at all times and the others in a hidden pocket in my purse for those times when I'm either out of Lactaid or it's just not enough.
I generally avoid them, but if I can't I take Beano before eating and it usually works.
So many foods give me gas that I don't bother trying to avoid them all. I take Beano with my beans, and it seems to work as long as I keep the bean portions small. I also take lots of gas-x and chew on fennel.
I only avoid the foods that give me gas so badly that I am in pain.... and I avoid them like the plague. That involves just about anything greasy or fried. I can only guess that I have IBS or something similar; I have had the same problems since I was about 16 years old. Other than that, I really don't have problems with any foods, even spicy ones!
I guess I didn't really realize that these foods give you gas... good to keep in mind...
edamame, and grape nuts...they are the worst. my stomach gets huge and makes the loudest noises around lunchtime if I eat them for breakfast. so sad because I loved them.
