Olympic beach volleyball player Kerri Walsh gave birth to her first child last month, and of course everyone's interested in her post-baby body. Kerri told People magazine, "36 lbs. is the official number. I just didn't want to hit 40 because that would be 200 lbs. But I feel pretty silly now that I see Joey."
As a professional athlete, Kerri's sense of body image goes beyond the numbers on the scale. She admitted that a lot of the 36 pounds came off during the first week after giving birth, but commented, "Now I just need to build my muscle because I'm skinny soft, which is the worst thing to be."
Kerri knows that a slender appearance does not imply a fit body. The benefits of exercising go way beyond looking good. Summer is the perfect time to work out in the sand; go for a walk, a run, or get inspired by Kerri and organize a group for a fun game of beach volleyball.

Wait, so she said 40 lbs would have been 200. Does that mean she normally weighs 160 pounds?

2160 pounds seems pretty realistic for someone as built (ie: muscular) as her. Even though she's lean, she has a lot of muscle mass (muscle weighs more than fat etc etc).
I don't think skinny-soft is bad, it's all about your preference
3@Diamond:
Yeah, I think she usually weighs 160, which got me super excited until I googled around for her height. She is reported to be 6' tall, though some sites say she's 6' 3".
4I'm not surprised ... I'm 5'1 and I weigh 130, but I wear a size 4.
5I wish I was skinny soft. Skinny is skinny.
I am sure she will be back to her "norm"
in no time. It has only been a month. What does she expect.
6Zenwoman, I disagree. There are different types of skinny. Skinny-fat (thin but no muscle tone to speak of), skinny-fit (trim, but a healthier looking frame and muscles to help support) and skinny-and-bones (um, just what it sounds like).
7I myself would prefer to be trim but healthy with semi-defined muscles (don't want to be ripped like those Oxygen-mag women). But, to each their own.
Good for her! Sounds like she has a great body image.
8I always thought I would prefer skinny-"hard". But after realizing that Scarlett Johannson is skinny soft--I"m not so sure.
9The thing with skinny soft is the flabiness. Im 23 and 5'4 and i always weight not more that 125 but in the last 2 years i started getting cellulite bad, in my butt and upper thighs. i looked hot, skinny and "healthy" but i had never excercised in my life. Now i do exercise and look more "hard" and tone but im healthy for real now and my cellulite has pretty much go away. I also weight more, 130 but that is because muscle weights more that fat, i actually look leaner that before.
10sorry to burst your bubble guys but she is 6ft 3 inches tall. She is quite lean for her height. I am 6ft tall and people always think I way 120lbs. But I really weigh 145 lbs and i am very thin. It is just because she is so tall.
