Save Calories With Simple Swaps
If losing weight is your main goal, then watching your caloric intake is key. Similar foods can vary greatly in terms of calorie counts, so it pays to know which options contain fewer calories to help you lose weight faster. Just to warn you, the options that contain the fewest calories may not necessarily be healthier in every other aspect, so choose the options that best meet your needs.

1It is so NOT just about calories! How can you advocate butter over olive oil?? The nutrition of the food matters - to simply compare foods on a per calorie basis is just plain ignorant. IMHO
2Sorry, I side with michlny. Simply going low cal isn't an appropriate approach to healthy weight control.

4I completely agree...butter is never a better choice than olive oil.
5The slide show said "if you're watching calories". Olive oil is the best bet overall but butter is a whole food that can be used in moderation and therefore not the devil.
6I like Nucoa and Earth Balance margarine over butter if I had to pick, less saturated fat too.

7Quality ALWAYS trumps quantity when it comes to calories. Period. If the butter is made from RAW, Unpasteurized, Organic Milk/Cream then it will naturally contain the enzymes and lactic acids necessary to break down and easily metabolize it's proteins (casein), fats & milk sugar(lactose) It will also NOT contain harmful substances such as antibiotics, artificial growth hormones, and mutagens formed from the high heat of pasteurization and often times irradiation. These enzymes and acids also make it impossible for bacteria and pathogens to exist. Same goes for Olive Oil. If it is Organic, Cold pressed (as opposed to heat extracted) it will be full of vital phyto-nutrients, minerals, trace and ultra-trace minerals, as well as the acids and enzymes necessary for metabolization and assimilation by your body. It will also not contain pesticide residues and chemical solvents otherwise used to extract and refine olive oils. If your body can't break it down and eliminate it, it will store it as far away from the vital organs as possible - in fat cells which lie between your skin and muscle.
