Feeling stressed and frazzled can take a toll on your happiness and overall well-being. Heather Graham makes time in her busy schedule to reconnect with her center every day through transcendental meditation. Director David Lynch turned her on to the technique, which involves repeating a mantra to quiet the mind.
The Hangover star practices this type of meditation because, "It balances you out – it makes you feel a lot less stressed." She complements her daily meditative sessions with yoga, and says that she's "really obsessed" with it for its ability to affect the mental and physical.
Although meditation is a one-woman activity, it can be difficult to get started. If you need a little help getting into the art of quieting your mind, check out my tips on where to begin. Do you meditate?

Nope. I've never been able to do it, and I get bored, and then I start to feel silly...
1i'm a total believer of meditation and mind power - but it's really tough, not only to quiet your mind but to find time. as much of a dingbat as she seems to be, i can't believe she is capable of this... then again... that mind of hers can't be too cluttered with the BS "average" women deal with, so maybe this DOES work... for people like her.
2I pray. It sure IS hard to concentrate sometimes though!
3I would recommend to everyone who thinks meditating is hard to learn the Transcendental Meditation Technique. It is easy and so effective. Heather does it regularly, because it is sooooo easy and gives such great benefits right away. Once you've had the experience you want to do it, you look forward to it, and then it's easy to find the time to do it. Check it out TM.org Even the website is simple, easy to read.
4I don't know if it's relaxation or meditation, but between yoga and reiki being able to clear my mind feels very nice.
5my mantra: xanax and chardonnay.
6Heather is an actress I like lot. She has a likable vulnerability and a clarity that come through compellingly on the screen. I have seen similar brightness on others and I think it is also due to the daily practice of transcendental meditation: it gets rid of stress and lets the brightness in.
7I tried meditation once...I had a CD of someone talking really calmly and I think you were supposed to sort of visualize what she was saying. I felt really silly the entire time and I ended up just laughing by the end. It probably wasn't the way it was supposed to work!
8I agree with tlsgirl, I do not have the patience and find it incredibly boring. My mind just startsthinking about all the things I could be doing instead that are more productive and/or enjoyable.
9In place of meditation for me is doing yard work and gardening. Being outside in nature and not having any electronic distractions is very calming to me, plus I am also being productive at the same time.
For me trying to learn meditation form a book or a tape didn’t work. I never knew whether I was doing it correctly, I wasn’t experiencing any benefits and just felt lost in my thoughts. How many people do you know who learned meditation from a book or a CD and actually do their practice on a consistent daily basis?
It is best to learn Transcendental Meditation from a certified teacher so you receive instruction for an expert. When learning from a certified teacher, you get personal instruction from a highly trained professional over a four day period, and plenty of personal follow-up to ensure that you continue to enjoy your daily practice and get all the wonderful results. Certified teachers use teaching methods that were carefully developed in order to bring the benefits of an ancient tradition to all the people of the world. These instructional methods help ensure that each person learns to meditate correctly, and maximize the ease and appeal of consistent daily practice. The entire process was designed to make meditation both accessible and successful.
10I used to last year. I feel like my life is so hectic right now that I neglect/don't have time for meditation-but that's exactly what I need to make time for! It really makes you feel at peace.
11she might be stupid, but at least she eats. i as at the London premier of hangover and she ate 1,25 risotto
but the conversation was like from some teenage movie "Uh-uh, no way... he didn't say that. UH-UH!" kind of stuff. So I wouldn't listen to any
advice she has to offer.
