My most recent fitness goal was to beat my personal best time running a mile, and when I did, I was sure to reward myself with a pedicure. Just as it's important to make fitness goals, it's equally important to decide how you're going to reward yourself once you reach them. A massage, really good chocolate, or a new skirt are just some of the ways I like to recognize my achievements.

So tell me, how do you honor your fitness successes?

I don't really reward myself for the daily working out that I do. Going to the gym and working out is its own reward because it makes me feel so much better. If I do something like enter an event though, the massage is always the way to go.
1As I am losing the weight, I made a rewards list for each milestone. At 10 pounds, I bought myself hip scarves for belly dancing. At 20 pounds, I watched all five of the Best Picture nominees in February. At 30 pounds, I got an iPod Touch. And at 40 pounds, which is where I am now, I got a hula hoop and signed up for dance lessons. When I reach 50, I get to go on vacation.
2If I finish the 10km race I am doing next month I'm going to go to my favourite cafe and have a lovely lunch!
3no particular reward although my husband I treated ourselves to brunch after our 5K a few weeks ago and I hear there is beer served after a 5K I plan to run later this summer
4My fitness goal IS my reward! My boyfriend wants to go on a challenging week-long mountain trek later this year. It's been his dream since he was little, and I'm so touched that he wants me to go with him. I'm working out every day and strength training to get ready for it. Being able to do it with him, and actually enjoy it, is going to be the biggest gift to him and myself!
5When i reach my goal, I am getting a new car. My boyfriend says that is stellar motivation. I am on the fence about it, but I planned on getting a new one anyway. It doesn't keep me motivated, but at least I'll look better and have a cute car too.
6When I reach a milestone, I reward myself by buying new gym clothes.
7New clothes, gym clothes or fun clothes!
8I'm with those who says FITNESS is the reward, not to mention HEALTH. A healthy, fit body feels good, and looks good. That's hard to beat.
Speaking of which, it's time for my weekly jog.
9Oh boy, this could get dangerous:
10spent $102 on two pairs of bike shorts and two bike jerseys as an, um 'reward' for 100 miles of biking last weekend
regular pedicures
and the biggest "reward":
$1100 Felt S32 tri bike
I wish I could say that fitness and health is reward enough for me; but I'm far too goal oriented.
But I do buy myself clothes when I lose weight. It's exciting to go to the store and discover I'm one size down
11When I do lose some weight, or find that my clothes are fitting loosely, I go out and splurge on some cute things. Most of the time, going out shopping IS my reward.
I can't do milestone rewards, because I'm always disappointed when the weight loss doesn't happen [and it actually has taken me A REALLY LONG TIME to get down a POUND beyond the first 10 I lost...and I STILL have like 95 -100 to go!]. I don't reward myself in general, so I've started making rewards for other things besides fitness...fitness just goes on the list of things I can reward myself for.
12I'm also with those who say that fitness and optimal health are the rewards.
13When I reached 50 pounds I went skydiving. It was awesome! i'm so happy I did it!
14Definitely new clothes! The best feeling is when you fit perfectly into a pair of jeans that a few months before you could barely get over your butt.
15New lingerie. It highlights everything I've done much much more than my usual clothing. It makes me feel very confident too.
And my fiance is definitely not complaining.
16I don't really reward myself regularly anymore now that I'm at my goal weight/size, but I do like to go out and splurge on new fitness gear and clothes sometimes to make me feel like it's all worth it.
17I reward myself by signing up more race - to see if I can beat my time next year.
18My reward is a nice thick juicy fillet of salmon belly! Ah it's so delicious!
19I totally agree that being fit and more confident is the best reward of all !!!!!!
20That said, I like to reward myself with something fitness related like a new HRM watch or personal training sessions or pilates sessions. This way, it gives me something active to look forward to and makes exercise the penultimate reward. Plus things like training or pilates sessions help to break the boredom and give me an extra workout boost.
New clothes are always fun too
I agree that feeling great is a reward but I really like feeling like I earned something and having something tangible to represent that would also be great. I am trying to lose weight right now and this post is really making me consider promising myself a reward.
21my only reward is to look hotter in new cycling gear! for example, for hitting my 50 mile goal, I went out and bought a (way overpriced but hot) designer cycling jersey. it only furthers the motivation to ride, and that's all I need.
22I don't usually reward myself for exercising goals actually. Thinking I look hotter naked is enough of a reward
23My personal sense of satisfaction is my reward. I had to buy some new clothes when I lost weight, but that was almost more of a punishment than a reward. I'm not a big shopper, and I especially hate shopping for jeans!
24my reward is feeling better... if i say i'd like to lose 5 pounds and i do it i feel great, and that makes me happy. if i say "i'm going to run 3 miles today" and i do, or run more, i just feel fantastic. that's enough for me
25I do agree that a sense of personal satisfaction and improved fitness is a reward in itself. However, I like to encourage myself to work a bit harder by thinking of all the new clothes I can buy once I lose 10 pounds! For me, there's nothing like feeling/looking great in my clothes! I also might buy myself some new exercise gear.
If I'm having a hard time sticking to my diet/exercise, at the end of the week (if I stuck to it), I'll buy myself a magazine or some nail polish or something.
26I haven't set a reward for myself but probably should. I recently lost 10% of my body weight and haven't even thought of a reward.
27Once I start my new job, I'll treat myself to a beach vacation. Seeing myself in a bikini is reward enough!
I'm planning to buy myself some new summer running shorts when i am half way through my 6 week half marathon training plan!
28I agree that feeling and looking better is more than enough reward! But sometimes I promise myself new exercise clothes or equipment, because new things always get me excited about working out!
29When I reach my weight goal... which will hopefully be in the next week or two.. I'm eating a cheeseburger from my favorite spot!
30I have an August trip that I'm hoping to get bikini ready for. To motivate myself I made a schedule and have to check off 10 workouts a week (cardio, circuit training, stretching, trainer, boxing) for the next six weeks... If I reach that goal, I'm buying myself the Chanel purse that I've been wanting for years.
