You think you're doing something healthy by brushing your teeth right after slurping a soda, but you're doing more harm than good. The combination of the acid in the soda and the abrasive action of brushing can actually erode your tooth enamel, which can lead to cavities. So instead of reaching for your toothbrush after drinking acidic drinks such as soda, citrus juices like lemonade, or sport drinks, reach for some water to sip on instead. It'll help rinse the acid from your teeth. Or chew gum since it encourages the production of saliva, which neutralizes the acid in your mouth. Then afterward, feel free to brush.

Never thought of it that way, but it makes total sense !
1My dentist always warns me about this because I drink soda sometimes. I don't brush after drinking it though, at least not usually. I typically grab a piece of gum to chew to help dilute the acidity of the soda.
2it took me a while to get this one when i was younger but i think that my teeth would love me more if i had listened to this rule. you never realize the impact that acid has on the enamel of your teeth and then to brush right aftewards - that's just a bad thing. i guess it makes sense when your teeth start to get sensitive.
3Or quit drinking soda....
