I probably eat yogurt at least five days a week, being that it's so healthy with all the beneficial bacteria it contains. Even better is plain yogurt, since it doesn't contain as much sugar as fruit-flavored yogurts. If the sour taste is too pungent for your taste buds, I discovered a good compromise. I mix half plain yogurt with half fruit yogurt, so my new concoction is slightly sweeter than plain yogurt but doesn't have as much sugar as just the fruit-flavored yogurt.

To see how the nutritional info of this mixed yogurt compares with eating either just plain or just fruity yogurt read more.

As you can see from the chart, the mixed yogurt contains 6.5 fewer grams of carbs, six fewer grams of sugar, and 20 fewer calories than the peach yogurt. As an added bonus, it also has two more grams of protein. Once you go mixed, you'll never go back.

I usually just eat the Dannon Light and Fit mini yogurt cups that are 60 calories each. I know they have artificial sweetener in them, but I like that they're pretty cheap and they taste pretty good. Plus, you can buy them in a 12-pack, which is really convenient for me. I can't find Chobani yogurt in my grocery store, but if you really like it, I suppose mixing the two yogurts together is a pretty good idea. Definitely cuts down on the sweetness and sugar content.
1If you really want fruit yogurt, try Cascade Fresh. No sugar is added, it's all fruit and 110 calories. I buy it at Whole Foods, but I've seen it elsewhere too. Price is usually about 80 cents a piece. Not bad!
2I just have the Oikos Plain with some Stevia or agave......
3I just like plain whole milk yogurt with fruit mixed in. The amount of junk in most lower fat, flavored yogurts is scary to me.
4Lately I'll buy Light and Fit Plain or Vanilla yogurt from Dannon and throw about 5 or 6 fresh rasberries in them. I LOVE the taste. Even with the 60 calorie pack its quite filling for a snack.
5If you strain the plain yogurt for a few hours it loses much of the tartness and you're left with a nice, thick, greek-type yogurt. Really delicious!
6I like to freeze my yogurt and if I am in the need of a late night snack- voila! frozen yogurt! It really does alter it, because you don't feel like your having a yogurt! love it.
7I am so having a love affair with frozen yogurt right now! Real yogurt, of course. I really think the probiotics help, too.
8JBanana-what a GREAT idea. i love frozen yogurt and never thought of that!
9I've been doing this for a while and I love it! I use Trader Joe's Nonfat Plain Yogurt and mix it with Dannon's Light 'n Fit, usually 2:1 proportions because I like being able to actually taste the tartness of yogurt. The Dannon Light 'n Fit is too sweet on its own but it flavors TJ's Plain Yogurt wonderfully! It's the perfect combo. Yum!
10i don't get why they put so much sugar in yoghurt. my favourite has 20gr i think... and the one with pretty much no sugar is just not tasty at all. i will try this tip and see how I like it.
