Many restaurants, such as Chili's, post the nutritional information of their menu items online. If you're curious to know how many calories or milligrams of sodium a certain food has, or what to order on the menu that contains the least amount of cholesterol, then check their websites before you head out the door. That way you'll know that a serving of Texas Cheese Fries contains 1,920 calories and 3,570 mg of sodium, so it's best to share it with a few people.

Great tip!
1Great tip! I actually did this recently and was pleasantly surprised to find that my favorite item, which I thought was probably high in fat and calories, was actually one of the healthiest items on the menu. Sometimes it's just impossible to predict how restaurants prepare their dishes - it can go both ways.
2I've been doing this for a long time. My husband gets annoyed with it sometimes because he says I "ruin" some of his favorite dishes. haha... He ends up thanking me for it later, though!
3I do this a lot, but sometimes the websites aren't very helpful. Most chain places put their calorie counts up, but if it isn't a chain, sometimes all you can find is a menu. Still, I like knowing what a place offers before I go there to eat.
4I do this often, and I have a little cheat sheet I carry with me off all my favorite chain restaurants and what I can eat. It's so much easier doing it this way so that you don't get thrown off track later.
5I never eat at chains (hate, hate) but it's not that hard to figure out, at least roughly.
6i always do this, to get an idea of what's best to order
