Confessing my health and fitness slip-ups to you makes me feel human again, especially after reading your confessions. I've got a new one to make . . .
There was a little too much ole in my Cinco de Mayo celebration. I got carried away at a Mexican potluck I attended last night and am paying a pretty peso for my dining decisions today. Somehow, a few harmless chips dipped in guacamole turned into more chips and five-layer dip, a couple carnitas tacos dressed with sour cream, two helpings of cheesy Mexican lasagna, and a decadent chile-spiced brownie à la mode for good measure. And, yes, there were margaritas. As you can imagine, I rolled myself home feeling a bit ill.
So there you have it, I've told you mine, now you tell me yours. Got anything you need to get off your chest? Share your health blunders below and I promise you'll feel better. We all are human, and we all make mistakes, and we all move on.

but! Mexican lasagna? WoW, i'm gonna have to look up a recipe for that! nobody in their right mind would pass that up! or an exciting twist on a the already amazing brownie. nobody's gonna put you in food jail
something that works for me in the face of pure gluttonous
temptation like buffets and potlucks is i try to eat things that i don't normally get to have or haven't had and pass on things that i have had or know i can have at any time. but that
doesn't mean i don't go all out and forget that rule sometimes....
1Saturday I went to a baseball game with some friends and had a few beers, then later ate dinner with them, along with some amaretto sours and some wine...then the next night I went to a graduation party and, I swear, ate about three times my body weight in food.
2Chili dog nachos (chili cheese nachos with bits of hot dog on top) http://girlsaroundchitown.blogspot.com/2009/05/chili-dog-nachos.html + a hot dog + fries + beer = an awesome day at Wrigley Field & a tummy ache!
3Ugh, I skipped first two hours of college today and since I was at home, I ate every 30 minutes. Later I had strawberries and a lot of peanuts for lunch, then went cycling and hiking to burn them off.. But then went out to a student party.. Who knew vodka had that many calories
Well,
I really needn't have eaten the rest of the bag of peanuts either. Now that I came home, I had my daily portion of salad and am on the verge of exploding. Thanks god I left early or I
might've emptied that bottle of wine I brought as well.
4I entertained some friends who helped me move Friday night and things got waaaaaay out of hand with the margaritas. I think I was burping tequila into late afternoon the next day.
5I've been eating like crap the past two weeks. I'm addicted to sweets, mike and ikes and cheese puffs. I've got to get back on track!
6I've eaten like crap for the past week. I was home for a wedding and continued the eating fest once I returned back home. I just gave my leftover tuna wrap and fries from lunch to a co-worker so at least I won't be able to finish that. Crappy eating stops now. Summer is coming and its time to be healthy.
7Last night I had a heaping bowl of pasta/couscous w/ sauce and veggies, which wasn't too bad but just really filling, and then topped it off with soy delicious PB zig-zag soy ice cream, peanut butter, a brownie, and chocolate chips.
8I've had way too many liquid calories lately (read: alcohol) and I should really stop it. Too many weddings and graduation parties, traveling for work etc.... but I should be home for the next month straight, so I'll get back on track, to bed early and getting up for the gym before work wont be torture. (i hope)
9Nothing too major; I ate too many Quaker chocolate rice cakes and Puffins cereal last night and today I feel kind of, well, puffy. I did work out today though, so I don't feel TOO bad.
10I usually have some really good indulgence to tell about when these are posted but I'm proud of myself lately... I haven't had a violent splurge in quite awhile! I had a small soft serve vanilla cone at the zoo yesterday but that's it... I worked out and walked for several hours at the zoo so I just look at it as a treat
11Spectra - rice cakes... really???!!! You go girl! Indulge, indulge, indulge! Good thing you burned off those nasty calories... I can only imagine what would have happened had you not.
12i went out to eat last week w/ friends, and though i was proud of myself for boxing 1/2 my meal to take home, we ended up getting dessert afterwards.... i ate an entire (huge) piece of chocolate cake. oh well, it was such a treat! so worth the calories
13There was that bottle of cava in the middle of Sunday afternoon, but otherwise I've been pretty good.
14Two weeks ago i missed a day exersizing and i haven't started up again. Ive also been eating a lot of crap cuz i keep telling myself "you don't usually have the opportunity to eat this yummy thing, take advantage of it"
15ugh. I have got to get back on track!
Oh wait, I made myself a bacon sandwich to soak up the alcohol on Saturday night too. Wish that had stayed forgotten.
16...and one more thing. I really want some chili dog nachos now.
17Ok, yesterday I went to DC for Cinco De Mayo. I had two cheese enchiladas, a margarita and nachos with cheese (shared). I feel so bad about it because I have been really on point with my diet and fitness for the past three weeks. But today I got up and started with my five small meals a day. And I went on a 45 minute walk. Tomorrow will hopefully be better.
18I ate a huge helping of Granny's Chicken alfredo, which I'm pretty sure had lard in it.. because she uses lard in everything.. and 3 massive slices of texas toast on the side. Oh and Saturday night I had too much vodka. like couldn't-stand-the-sound-of-anything-above-a-whisper-the next-morning too much vodka. I haven't worked out much either, must make up for lost time tomorrow. Ok and I feel better. I love these posts.
19I ate a whole Amy's Roasted Vegetable Pizza and half a pint of Turtle Trails soy ice cream to celebrate my first half-marathon. I don't really feel as bad as I should.
20i had carlos o'kelly's...2 "lite" fajita enchiladas...guacamole, salsa and chips. too many chips! bloated today.
21I had been eating way out of control lately, so the day before yesterday I got back on track and ate healthy foods and felt so proud of myself. Yesterday I was eating well until the afternoon rolled around. I went out with friends and ate with them, then at night I did the same, only more eating. Ugh. I feel so sick now. I had a bowl of oatmeal for breakfast and a about to leave to head over to the gym.
22oh,i so wanna confess last few weeks i have binging on but today's cheese omellete did it for me ,last year i lost about 24 kgs and i am proud of it so i am going on health track again not more straying
23A few weeks ago when I went back to my parents' house for vacation, I gorged on all the American food I could get my hands on since it's just not as readily available in the UK where I'm living at the moment. SO that meant that I went out for three French Toast Slams at Denny's, Dairy Queen blizzards about four nights in a row and basically snacked on everything I could get my hands on that was sweet and/or greasy. I was a little roly-poly (tee hee!) when I touched down in London but seriously it's only been a week and I've lost the pudge just by having to walk everywhere again and not being able to get my hands on junk food.
How I miss it.
24Uhg I went to girls night happy hour last night, and while I didn't eat everything in sight I did eat a bunch of fried calamari...I don't usually eat fried food in any measurable quantity and boy did I pay for that around midnight. And lizzie008, I had pizza to celebrate my first half marathon too! It was so worth it
25Last night I went to a benefit and there were the most delicious chocolate covered strawberries. I had one. Then I passed the chocolate mousse, then coffee flavored mousse in chocolate shell cup...My boyfriend looked at me with that ever so loving..."Maybe you should stop with the chocolate..." One Vodka deep and I thought I was starving.
26It makes me feel better comiserating like this and reading that I am not the only one. Why is it whenever I get a healthy eating plan in mind and start working out again, it seems to fly out of control. I started counting calories again this week which works for me just seeing the number totalled but I went to a wedding last weekend, and then Cinco de Mayo this week, then out to celebrate with my boyfriend and friends last week for his semester being over (although I only had two beers, 6 honey BBQ wings and a side salad) but UGHHH instead of my daily totals going down like they should be, each day is more than the next! Grr.
27I was bad this weekend....I ate lots of potato chip and onion dip, a huge slice of pizza, and then on Sunday I ate a cheeseburger, potato salad, wings, and Carvel Ice Cream cake....I ran a lot of extra miles to burn that off! For the past 8 months or so I have been on this total healthy eating kick, and working out 6 days a week...I have seen great results but I am really starting to lose it with the food...I just want to eat bad stuff all the time, but I have to keep telling myself that I worked so hard to get where I am and I shouldn't jeopardize that just to eat a cookie. I am just glad to see that I am not the only one who cheats every once in awhile. Life is too short to eat grilled chicken and steamed veggies every day!
28i ate an ENTIRE subway's beef brisket footlong for dinner two nights ago...was trying to be good yesterday but had a craving for indian food last night and stuffed my face. for those who know - i had a masala dosa, vada, utthapam, dahi idli and badam halwa...i'm sure the halwa had ghee in it.
but it was oh so gooooood.
29I found out I lost 10 lbs on Sunday.
Monday morning, I had to be up early to take my brother to school...and I stopped by a Chick-Fil-A on the way back to grab a chicken sandwich.
It ended up being the entire meal - sandwich, hash fries, and orange juice.
And I haven't exercised for the last two days, even after that. I've just been so TIRED. Ugh. Maybe I'll go for a run later today.
30Margokhal - congrats on losing 10lbs anyway!
I've been eating like crazy these last 3 weeks, and not really healthy food. I'm back at the point where I can barely button up my jeans, and man it is uncomfortable and unpleasant!
31I'm officially back to snacking on fruit instead of cookie (damn office cookies! stop bringing them people!) and eating a salad before my main meal.
Ate jalapeno poppers, a steak sandwich, and three (very full) glasses of wine. Barely touched my salad that was there to fill me up first.
32CRAAAZY snacking after 10 pm earlier this week =[ Finished off a bag of chocolate chips and started digging into another one, probably ten or so mini Reese's Cups, and two cups of dry cereal. Yuck. I hate when I start eating and can't stop myself. I always feel so gross the next morning.
33... ben and jerry's
Its always ben and jerry's, damn them!
34went out for Spanish last night....had about 8 glasses of sangria...appetizers, entree, then appetizers again...shockingly, i wasn't that full...today, continued eating normally, didn't freak out
35Well...I've had a baddd week since I finished the semester last Wednesday. Lots of tortilla chips, chocolate covered strawberries (2), fried chicken tenders and just a little french fries (only because they were not good), oh and today, bread and fava beans cooked in oil at a mother's day brunch, this thick creamy stuff topped in date syrup, and then I was great for dinner I had half a veggie sub with mozzarella - but then I went to the movies and over did it on the buttered popcorn! Damn freshly popped movie popcorn!
Tomorrow the slacking off of "first post exam week" ends prematurely and we get back to basics!
36Hhmmm, I had a bad week last week. I attended a reception on Tuesday night filled with yummy appetizers, a Gala Wednesday night with yummy appetizers and a three course meal, and on Thursday, treated to a carb filled lunch (sandwiches, and 2 types of pasta salad), I had 2 desserts, and then at an afternoon work event had some ice cream and a bite of cake, but was still full from the lunch so i didn't indulge like I could have. I don't feel that guilty about it though, because, hey, it happens, and as long as it's not every week, I think that it's okay.
