As of last Friday, Hydroxycut diet aids have been voluntarily recalled after a warning from the Food and Drug Administration. The FDA had received 23 reports of "serious health problems ranging from jaundice and elevated liver enzymes, an indicator of potential liver injury, to liver damage requiring liver transplants" after using the supplement.

Hydroxycut pills, drinks, and powders are promoted as weight loss supplements that increase energy while boosting the metabolism. If you are using any Hydroxycut products, the FDA urges you to stop using them.
I am not a fan of diet aids as they represent a "magic pill" approach to weight loss, when I believe that losing weight requires sustainable lifestyle changes. However, we are a society hoping to have our cake and eat it too, and diet pills represent a quick fix. I am wondering . . .

I've tried trimspa a long time ago. It didn't work at all. Diet and exercise all the way >3 There are no qick fixes.
1*quick
(bah, it's too early for this. lol)
2I'd never take diet pills..end of story.
3They were alluring when I was working to lose those last 5 pounds before my wedding, but decided it was way too much money to spend with no guaranteed results. Since then I discovered running, and will never even consider using pills or quick fixes again.
4When I was younger I definitely had a problem. I would take them and only eat one granola bar every day. I lost weight and gained a serious problem. Luckily my family and friends helped me see what I was doing to myself. That was about 5 years ago and I must admit, every once in awhile I will get that voice in my head trying to convince me to take them again. They can be extremely addictive because you drop the weight so fast! Luckily I have learned that nothing makes you feel better than eating right and working out.
5They always seemed rather dangerous to me, and I think that eating right and exercising isn't too hard (now that I've finally started!).
6I heard about this the other day and it freaked me out. I used Hydroxycut for nearly a year. And I've tried a few others beside that. However, I was anorexic then, and I felt as if I stopped taking them I'd gain a lot of weight for no reason. They are not a "quick fix" though, any diet pills for that matter. They did not suppress my appetite or anything like that. It felt like drinking a few cups of coffee, and that's about it. A huge waste of money and a huge risk to take if you ask me. it's not like you take them and drop 20 lbs immediately. if you ever see advertisements (commercials) for diet pills, you'll likely notice that the weight loss a person supposedly achieved on said diet pill is a healthy weight loss (probably about 1 lb per week) and can be achieved through diet and exercise alone. Unless you're clinically obese and can get a prescription for diet pills, they are basically useless.
The problems resulting from taking Hydroxycut, or any other diet pill do not shock me though. While I was taking them, I had tests done & there was noticeable damage I had done to my heart. At the time I was 16 and so thankfully I had them taken away, otherwise I would've continued using them. I definitely advise against it, they're full of all kinds of potentially harmful ingredients/chemicals.
7My friend takes diet pills currently (not Hydroxycut) and I'm trying to convince her to stop. I tell her it's just like she's taking speed and it makes me think of the mom in Requiem for a Dream.
8No. Never.
There's no magic way to lose weight people.

10I took SlimQuick (the one targeted to women -- those heinous commercials with the animated stick figures) and sorry to be totally gross, but I could not go #2 for a week. I stopped them then and there.
11When I was 20 and in college, I had really low self esteem regarding my weight so I took Cortislim. I lost weight alright. Ten pounds after spending three days in the hospital for dehydration and gastroenteritis.
Yeah... not the way to do it folks. I'll never take diet pills again.
12there was a period of time that i used just about EVERY diet pill that was on the market. i can't say for sure that any of them worked - especially any better than another but i still used them.....it's a shame how people buy into that ya know?
13I won't like, I've thought about it... but I've never done it and I don't think I ever will do it. Nothing beats healthy hard work.
14I had tried diet pills in my teens and early 20's, but I wouldn't touch those things now.
15I have used Alli before, the FDA approved "diet pill". I would never use anything not FDA approved or evaluated, and although Alli is proven to work, the side effects are not pretty if you over-indulge (in fat content not in total food intake). It is helpful in that you know if you make the wrong choices in your food you will have an immediate negative reaction and has helped me to make smarter choices to learn to live a healthier lifestyle. If I eat fried chicken, i'll suffer, if I instead choose grilled chicken, it's all good!
16When I was wildland firefighting the guys on my crew got me into hydroxycut but more for the stimulant than the fat loss aspect. I think I did it twice during some 16-hour shifts and felt disgusting.
17Yep... Stacker and Ripped Fuel... which both had ephedra, before it was illegal. *sigh* yes i know they were bad, but they worked for me, I had really great engergetic workouts. Speed is speed though.
18I've never tried them and I don't intend to do so. My husband has dabbled with them, but I don't think he's stuck with any one thing for very long.
19No way. They scare the crap out of me.
20Personally, I don't find "getting fit" or weight loss rewarding if you cheat with surgery and gimmicks! I'd NEVER use them... they can't possibly be safe...
21I used Alli and had decent results. You still have to work and they tell you that over and over in the book. It's not a magic pill it's just a little helper.
22No way! They are so scary.
23My freshman year of college I used Hydroxycut for about a week. I stopped taking them immediately because it sped up my heart so much I thought it would stop beating any minute. That is exactly what it is supposed to do. Speed the heart like a workout. I agree that there is no easy way or magic pill to lose weight. It is all about diet and exercise. I think all these "miracle" pills should be pulled.
24I never took diet pills for the purpose of losing weight. Me, and a lot of other people in the military, used them as a tool to work 12 hour shifts and still go out and have a life afterwards without racking up massive calories in energy drinks and soda. Was it a healthy decision, probably not. Did it work? Definitely yes.
25I am currently taking healthe' trim- u know the one that claims:high school skinny. Anybody else use this before?
26I used stuff like this in high school and in my early 20's. I know I used to take a lot of NoDoz in high school which wasn't for dieting, but it had ephedra, and I wouldn't eat all day. I wouldn't take them now, but it's always tempting even though I KNOW things like this aren't good for you.
27i tried one of those pills once...and never again. i was tired after work and took one for a boost before an evening workout. i spent the entire night wired, an INCREDIBLY paranoid, to the point that i got a knife from the kitchen and hid it under my pillow.
28I tried them in my teens when I had an eating disorder to make abstaining from food easier.
29I'm so embarrassed when I remember this. My freshman in college (and I just start living in US) LOL, and I saw an infomercial about a natural diet pills that will help you lose weight. (I honestly forget the name) I...ordered because I thought it'd miraculously help with losing my freshman 15
30Oy-yo. It didn't help and that's the first time I had to deal with them charging my card over and over again for the next couple of months (because I didn't understand that they'd keep charging my card and sending those useless pills my way until I said no, even then it took so long to actually CANCEL them completely because they were just so very persistent). NEVER AGAIN.
I used Metabolife for a while when I was in middle school - YES MIDDLE SCHOOL, like when I was 12-13 years old [my mother and I both did it together, she monitored how much I had just in case it wasn't safe for kids]...didn't lose a lick of weight, but my friend totally did. She went from a size 16 to a 6 in 6 months on it, but all should would eat for lunch was a diet soda and a Yoplait yogurt. She stopped taking them after she got down to a 4, but she's been able to keep it off ever since without doing much exercise...it worked for her!
[and I was SUPER jealous. I was about to start taking other diet pills just to get that kind of loss...but I found out the hard way that I'm more sensitive to stimulants and caffeine than I thought!]
31No way. I know a girl that had a heart attack from taking them..
Plus I just don't like taking medicine of any kind.. side effects scare me. I barely even take Tylenol. Since I have been exercising and eating healthier (I even cut out caffeine), I haven't been having headaches.. funny how when you take care of yourself the healthy way you get rid of a lot of the problems that you had!
32Yes I have and I wish the one I used as a teen was still available. It was basically a compacted tablet of insoluble fiber. It was taken off the diet sheleves and moved to the fiber/laxative section of the store. And the amount of fiber and the way its released is now different. Its now called Fibercon.
I also tried Trimspa like 4 years ago. It was coffee grounds and ground cherry pits - so yeah it capsule open in your tummy and your sick as a dog and unable to eat. So that worked as long as you could tolerate feeling queasy all the time.
33I took hydroxycut about 3 years back when i had self-esteem issues. I was only slightly overweight but desperately wanted to lose a lot of weight. I lost about 4 kilos but i felt uncomfortable most of the time coz I could practically feel my heart beating so hard in my chest. Also, I suffered from insomnia and nausea very often.
After a few months I decided to stop taking them and I gained a lot of weight immediately after. I learnt the hard way that diet pills don't work and that they would have adverse effects on your body.
34Nope, my mother did when I was younger but it was never something I was interested in.
35When I was in college and was struggling with my eating disorder, I tried Metabolife because I thought for some reason it would help me lose more weight. It did exactly nothing, just like the vast majority of OTC diet pills. Most of them just speed up your heart rate and make you jittery so you don't feel like eating. If you take the pills and still eat the same crap, you ain't gonna lose jack. All of those ads say the people who used the pills did it in conjunction with a healthy diet and an exercise plan. So yeah, you're better off just eating less and working out more.
36I took ephedrine in college, but for all-nighters, not for weight loss. I would spend the entire next day throwing up. So I would definitely have no interest in taking anything like that with regularity. I'll stick with watching my diet & getting lots of exercise.
37Diet pills scare me to death. Especially when it can screw up your heart. I also heard from a friend that diet pills can cause gall bladder problems. She had to have hers out because of them!!!!
38I am currently taking some green tea diet pills. I'm still changing my eating habits where I can stop taking them later on and do okay. I'm watching what I eat and how much I eat and exercising every evening. I've tried losing weight many, many times before and couldn't keep it up because I never had enough energy to keep going with it. It might be in my head, but the diet pills do seem to give me the extra energy I need to attain my goals. Of course I don't use them with the idea that taking diet pills is the only thing I have to do to lose weight. I am still holding myself responsible in my habits and making sure that I change my lifestyle where when I lose all the weight I need to, I will be able to keep it off on my own. I have definitely heard about the risks of diet pills, but unfortunately, I feel that I need an extra kick from something to get me going in the right direction. So far, I haven't had any negative side effects from taking the pills.
